OK Stacy, before you read my reply, remember I live here and love it LOL
So you’ve been to Italy, as in Rome, Sorrento and Naples, but you’ve never been to Calabria? Even the Italians will tell you we are different down here. Life here usually is a little slower. However you will be coming in high season, when the Italians join the Calabrians for a bit of the good life. So the beach bars will be open, hopefully offering whatever activity you require. Our restaurants (to my palette) are average to good, and some are crap! But if you think KFC is quality chicken then you will think our restaurants are excellent. Thankfully you will be here when the traditional Calabrian restaurants are open, many of these I can recommend. Not speaking Italian will not be too much of a problem while on holiday..ask anyone who knows me..but it is true not many locals speak English..Heck, most of them don’t speak Italian, but a local obscure dialect! Prices are still reasonable but don’t think you’ll dine on a pound. However I believe we are still cheaper than the UK. The best thing you can do, is get here and enjoy it. Look up some of us who are always here (our door is always open) and go from there..Christ all this typing has bought on a thirst..where’s my fifty nine cents a litre vino?
ps we have hot sea, warm sand and cold beer, what else could a person want
