I've been lurking here for quite a while and now I finally get to come to Italy for a vacation.
One of the things I want to do is check out places to stay for an extended period of time. Scalea interests me a lot as it seems to have a relatively low cost of living and is on the beach.
I do speak Italian and have lived in Italy before.
I'm planning to be in Scalea February 21-23 and would really love to meet anyone who happens to be available.
Oh, and since I'll only have a few days here, I think I'll just stay in a hotel. So if anyone has any suggestions for a nice modestly price hotel with WiFi, I'd love to hear them.
Hoping to hear from a few of you and make new friends.
has WiFi as we have been known to sit across the street and borrow their signal to download some things quickly! Do not know their prices and I didn't read this website. American friends just stayed there and didn't complain about prices.
Send us a private message if you like with more details of things and we might swap emails.
We stayed in The Sea Breeze but its a little far out. We also stayed in Hotel Lucia which was very central. We seemed to be the only guests in both but both were nice rooms and v warm. Breakfast not great. not sure about Internet.
What about The San Georgio on way out to San Nicola Arcella?

Hello Patricia. I was only in Scalea one day as it happened. I am planning another trip to Italy, probably in the spring. Don't know if I'll make it down to Scalea however. If I should happen to get down that way, I will post here and hopefully have a chance to meet up with other.
I did meet Doug and Diana who were delightful. Hi Doug & Diana!
