Default New year in Scalea

Can anyone tell us what Scalea is like at New Year. We have found some cheap Ryanair flights (thanks for the info,Lesley) but don't want to be " Billy no mates" watching italian tv.Will there be many people over celebrating?
Best wishes
Carol

We weren't in Scalea for New Year last year so I'm afraid I don't know what is was like.
There was definitely lots of fireworks all along the coast last year though!

Question New Year in Scalea

Hi there,

We are also going to be spending the New Year in Scalea. We have an apartment up at Parco Meridiana and wondered if any of our fellow residents would be there over the holiday season.

We will be arriving on boxing day. We are hoping that shops, restaurants etc. will be open but have no idea! I think we have a couple of boxes of pasta in the flat so I'm sure we won't die of starvation but if any one knows what happens in the town over the festive season we would be very grateful for any info. Thanks

Default Spar opening Xmas

Hi
The Spar supermarket in Scalea will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day according to their sign today.
Spent the last two Christmases in Scalea and from memory think everything was shut for the two days.
Won't be here at Christmas this year (leaving on 16th Dec) so can't help out with supplies.
Hope this helps.

Default Christmas/New Year in Scalea

Hello,

We spent Christmas and New Year in Scalea this year. Christmas is a total shutdown so was not very good but New Year was fine. We went to one of the many New Year do's held at most hotels. We opted for the less formal one (family orientated) at the villa Branzano. The food and entertainment was good and while most of those attending were Italian families, it was very good all round and at 48 euros very good value.

What we have decided is to just spend New Year in the future as Christmas is a bit disappointing. We also found out why!. There is a wise old saying..

Natale con i tuoi e il primo d'anno con quelli che voi.

Francis
