Hi,
I can't tell you who's open late at Lamezia but Ryanair use Hertz and offer special discounted rates for their customers. You can check out their prices for your flight at this link:
Ryanair.com - Cheap Car Hire
However, their quote is for basic car hire and you are offered the "add-on" options for excess, upgrades, etc., when you go to the Hertz desk at Lamezia. This bumps up the price and makes it expensive so we always use Insurance4carhire to pay for the excess in advance - it's very inexpensive (less than £50.00 for a year's cover for Europe) and you can use it as many times as you like throughout the year (very convenient for frequent travellers!)
You can check out their website at this link:
Car Hire Excess Insurance | Car Rental Excess Insurance
If you decide to go with this option, you will need to be very sure you make a point of letting them know at the Lamezia desk that you are already covered for excess, or you might find yourself signing for it again when you're there and then getting charge for it on your credit card. (This happened to us the first time by mistake, so we made very sure we didn't sign for it the next time - once bitten, twice shy!) Booking the car hire with Ryanair and then paying for the excess through Insurance4carhire is a very expedient way of doing it, though.
There are lots of other discussions on car hire on this forum and there is sure to be someone who knows more about "out of hours" charges. I would have thought that the price you pay with Ryanair should cover them as the car hire is automatically linked to the flights but it pays to be sure.
If anyone knows more about this, I'm sure all of us who visit this forum would like to have your input.
Let us know how it turns out, anyway.
Ciao,
Frances.
