Default Ryanair & Lamezia Airport

I have heard a whisper that Ryanair are not flying from Stansted this winter to Lamezia. Apparently from 25th Oct - 25th March 2009 the service will be pulled.....anyone else heard this?
Will make visiting over the winter difficult!

It should still be possible to travel from Stansted to Lamezia, via Milan, with Ryanair - depending on dates and times. It is something of a marathon, but anything beats that drive down from Rome.

Default Lamezia

Hi All

There are also flights from Gatwick to Lamezia with Easyjet. I found it a better option than Ryanair.

Bristol to Rome is also good for me the drive from Rome to Scalea seems less stressful than that from South Wales to Stansted.

More flights should go from regional airports in the UK and not this over reliance on Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton. Stansted and the City of London.

Ciao

John

Hi, I have checked easyjet, Gatwick to Lamezia. I cant find any flights. Are you sure it's easyjet. I am trying to get over in February. It's a nightmare trying to get from Belfast to Naples or Milan. Can't get the times to suit going from Milan to Lamezia. I will probably have to go via Rome.

I suspect John might have meant Gatwick to Naples?

There was a discussion about winter flights earlier - here's the link to it:

Default Naples Flights

We have always used Lamezia in the past, but have booked Stanstead to Naples for early November and for new year we are doing Gatwick to Naples with BA, flights are every day and BA has a good luggage allowance included, price is around the same as easyjet suprisingly can anyone tell us which is the best road out of Naples the A3 or the A30 and how long this should take to Scalea we have heard varying times.

Default flights

Hi All

Sorry about my previous post. I meant to say Gatwick to Lamezia via Milan. There seemed to be good connection times and we are going to try that route next time.

Naples is also very easy. The drive down to Scalea, whilst not as convenient as Lamezia, is easy as long as you take the A14 / A30 and not attempt the A3. There is a convenient services just beyond Salerno.

Ciao

Default A3

Hi Lynn

On the A3 you pass by the suburbs of Portici, San Giorgio, Ercolano, Torre del Greco etc. It has a greater volume of traffic. I find the driving of the locals through that area more erratic and it all feels a little claustrophobic. I much prefer the open spaces alongside the A30, of course you join the A3 at Salerno but that is soon enough.

I have friends living in this area and have visited it many times. Over the years I have witnessed many incidents along this road. I still use it on occasions depending on which friends I visit on the way down. But I prefer the other route especially if I am traveling from Rome you bypass Naples completely and just skirt Caserta.

Ciao

John
