Well it has been a long, long time in coming but late last night the heavens opened and it has rained all night and is continuing now.
This morning Brian's weather station was registering 40.2 mm of rain (in about 9 hours) - that's just over one and a half inches.
Temperature is down to 20.3 degrees (and has been hovering around the thirty degree mark for the past few weeks so that is quite a difference).
To be honest I am enjoying it as it is quite a change and it feels really fresh.
The lightning across the sea last night was competing with a magnificent firework display at Diamante which we were watching from our balcony - both displays were absolutely magnificent.
Dont know i you are based in Scalea or just visitor, but u will probably know..
If this actual weather is just an short extreme (because here in Prague its also unussualy cold ) and it will get back to normal - how the wather and sea in Scalea will be in the end of September and first week of October?
Hi Jan,
I think we have just picked up a weather front (possibly the same one that caused horrendous flooding in the Uk last week).
It should pass over quickly.
Late September and early October are generally a great time to visit here.
We live here full time (twenty minutes south of Scalea) and this is the first time it has rained since late June!!

That's great news Lesley. I was fearing for a bad drought there. It may be a vacation spot, but everyone needs rain to survive. A variety is nice too as you indicate. Looking at my records, we have only had 0.75 inches since June 1 here too. Time for some fall rains. They'll probably come hard and wet while I'm there in November eh?!! doug
We should arrive to Scalea on 26th September for 10 days.
Watching accuweather forecast - for now it looks that its not gonna break 21C
and in the night 15C... nice for walks, but not for beaching...
Its still too early to take these forecast seriously, but which weather site fits on the reality best, according to your experiences?
Well after no rain since the 10th June, the heavens opened Saturday night and finally stopped Monday morning. The rain catcher in our garden recorded 9cm of rain. The thunder storms were also amazing.
It has been a lovely sunny day, with a breeze, in Belvedere today.
Not sure of temperatures as we haven't been monitoring but Brian reckons into the thirties in the sun earlier.
To answer an earlier question re the best forecasts - I'm not sure which forecasts seem to be the most accurate, to be frank, they can all get it very wrong!
Last night we had rain from about 4.15pm until about 6.45pm (first time in about 3 weeks).
This morning started a little grey and overcast so I went out in jeans.
By 11am the sun came out and I was sweltering.
We left for our Italian lessons mid afternoon and it was 24 degrees then.
Right now at 10.50pm it is 23.7 degrees outside and 27.2 inside (obviously we haven't had any need to have any heating on).
It feels very "close" so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a storm soon.
