Default Barber

Hi Cool and Maisy

No need for a barber . I'm follicly-challenged. Unless of course he can give me un grand sconto.

Dear Cool,

Derek has been teaching me to speak proper English, errr British, and I am now "cadging" that you release this valuable information. We are returning soon. I still use barbers and certainly use the vino locale.

Saluto simpatici,

Thumbs up Info

Hi Gang, The Barber shop is in the village of Santa Maria del Cedro down by the sea .As you turn off the 118 and head up the village ,he is on the right. His name is Antonio and he is a really nice guy.Very helpfull and does a good job at the hair as well .The wine info I will pass on soon.I need to look up the name of the place.Leslie might be of some help .It was a turistico and was off beside Cirella in the mountains .I bought a 5 litre bottle when I was leaving that night after the meal and returned later in the holiday just to buy the wine and had no problems .15 euros for 5 litre.Very good wine .Hope this helps,,,Cool

Don't think anyone's written here about Guardia Piemontese. It's well worth a visit - really fascinating history and incredible views. Have been trying to post some photos but must be in eejit mode or something as I keep getting sent back to 'home' so you'll just have to take my word for it! Also - think Lesley's written before about the Greek theatre above Cirella - try and visit when sunset's coming - at your back there's the view across to Maiera' and Grisolia and to your front the sun going down over the sea with the ruins in relief.

Hi Lynn

What about Aeta? IS it a small village in the mountains? What's to be seen there?

We went to Aieta several years ago in a week that we were in Scalea waiting for the removal van to come from England. The eejit looking at the map (i.e. me!) thought it looked quite near not realising that a distance up a mountain is a bit different from on the flat - so we were half way back down (in a restaurant - really good - can't remember the name but it's signposted on the main road) when we had the call that the van had arrived in Scalea and they had to do a quick turnaround. There was no way we were going to get back in time so they just dumped the stuff. So I can remember the day we went to Aieta. It's def. worth a visit if just for the drive up and down - one of those typical hair-raising roads - plus some amazing views up there - one just behind the 'castle' if I remember right.

We went to Aietà one night for a meal and I thought it was a bit of a shame that we were going up there in the dark. The journey was great (a bit winding but a decent width so not too hairy!) and we parked in the old town and trundled through it on foot to the restaurant and I remember thinking it would be well worth a visit during the day as it looked really lovely.
There seemed to be a couple of restaurants at the edge of town that looked to be in panoramic positions so I'd guess they would have wonderful outlooks.
Anyone been to them and could comment?
Regards, Lesley

Hi all we went to the forest restaurant YumYum went first with the Scalea property gang and because we had the car we enjoyed a major super fab few meals there. Just out of the town a wee! bit past the black Madonna (after eurospar). The surronds the food and the value for money best ever.We found it difficult to get a pasta dish in town and I remembered they did amazing dishes in this forest place.Damien was dying for some meat and the steak was massive thought it came from the field beside me..€80 and we fell in the door, 8 or 9 courses wine water beer for 5 of us a real must if anyone is Scalea.xxFifi

Default Restaurant

Hi Fifi

Do you have a telephone no. or address for the forest restaurant?

The black Madonna, is that on the way to your place from the Eurospa? I can't say I've noticed that. How far do you estimate it to be from the Eurospa?

Thanks for the information.

Ciao

That sounds like Villa Brazzano, Contrada Foresta, Scalea.

I've added a simple map and will do a review when I get a moment!
