Sagra Di Cinghiale - Santa Domenica Talao

Hello all,
We were pleased to be in Santa Domenica for the Sagra Di Cinghiale last night (11th August).
The main street was made into a pedestrianised area and the lower car-park became both the dance-floor and outdoor eating-area.
We would estimate maybe a crowd of 1000 who were companionably eating, drinking, singing, dancing and generally having a great sociable time.
Fusili with wild boar or panini with roast wild boar or wild boar sausage was the order of the day (along with local red wine or another drink of your choice).
A group of ladies was preparing fresh fusili and the men had the task of cooking the boar and dispensing the drinks.
And - lovely to see - was a gang of youngsters collecting empty plates and cups and chatting away with the revellers.
A great team effort which we were honoured to be a part of.
(In fact we were tickled to note that the traffic was being controlled by the friendly mayor as we were ushered into our parking spot in the newly completed higher car-park).

Hi Lesley,
You had me reaching for the Dictionary there---Festival of the Wild Boar----Just showing off after all your Italian lessons.It looks as if a great time was had by all. It must be great to be able to have a night like that outdoors. Right now in Scotland it's the festival of the great Monsoon---I'll have to get my wellies relined with all the rain we're having---I think we've managed only one barbecue this "summer" away back in May. I feel sorry for anyone who has booked any of the outdoor events at the Edinburgh Festival which is on at the moment. Looking forward to our holiday in Italy in September and , hopefully, some good weather. All the Best, Billy.

I think you have hit the nail on the head!
The ability to be out and about eating and drinking long into the night is one of the joys of the climate here.
Simon is performing in a couple of concerts in the Festival (not as soloist just as part of an orchestra).
We always used to catch a few days in Edinburgh at festival time but I remember well one night getting completely and utterly soaked to the skin.
Not that it doesn't rain here - when it does it can be very tropical! - but I can't remember the last time it rained in recent months!
