Hi all

I've just joined. I will arrive in Lamezia on 9th Sept '08 for a 10 day trip. It is a holiday combined with looking at properties. I've booked the flights, but not the accommodation yet, nor have properties to view yet. Firstly, I'd really appreciate any suggestions on renting for that duration, secondly, while this site is great, I'd love to hear about 'life' in Scalea, Calabria in general. I'm interested in buying a townhouse or something in a village or town that is a resale, not interested in new developments, would like to immerse myself in Italain life, directly amongst the Italians.

I'm Irish, and am already aware of the beautiful differences between the two Coutries; Sun, food, wine, very freindly people (all of which I have only read about so far and am dying to experience), but I'd love a better insight into real life there. I come with two skills, teaching English as a foreign language, and am a singer (only in English I'm afraid at the moment).

Would dearly love a "fly on the wall" account of daily life over there....

Daily life here is just great - but we don't work so it is like one long holiday for us. Everyone else who lives over here full-time seems to be very happy.
Santa Domenica Talao is a very popular place and there are a quite a few full-timers there now.
