flights from stanstead

Hello to all,

I have been looking at flights for next year and can not seem to book any on Ryanair website for Stanstead to Lamezia. I have been on sky scanner and it appears that flights stop at the end of October 08. Has Ryanair cancelled all flights to Lamezia?

I believe Ryanair have grounded the Stansted - Lamezia flights for the winter months only. (Due to the fuel price hike it seems they have decided it makes commercial sense to keep some of their planes on the ground).
The summer flights will not be available for booking online for some time yet.
Can anyone else remember when the Ryanair summer schedule usually becomes available for bookings?

We've just come back from Scalea (boo hoo!) and are also anxious that, despite keeping a regular check on the Ryanair website for the winter schedule, there doesn't seem to be anything appearing and we were worried that the flights would be stopped during this period, especially following the news about Ryanair cutting flights that appeared in the paper at the weekend. We have just phoned Ryanair customer services and been told that there will be flights to Lamezia this winter but only on Mondays and Fridays and they are currently working on the schedule at the moment and that it should be available shortly.

Hi folks

This year may prove to be different to others, as Ryanair cut back on some more flights than usual. In previous years they tend not to publish their winter timetable till end of August early Sept, I dont know why this is, but its what happens.

They tend to cut back to Friday/Monday flights and the times change as well from morning to afternoon/ early evening. See Lesley`s post about timetable changes Oct 7th last yr

Its the same every year at this time, for us its always frustrating, as the change of timetable falls slap bang in the middle of the Oct half term week, so at the moment we can book our trip out, but not back!

Hopefully your info will prove to be more reliable than mine!
Certainly in the past the schedule has reduced to twice a week for the winter - which is much better than none at all.
We shall just have to wait and see 8-))

Thanks for the update.

While I was looking at flights for next year both easyjet and thomson listed Lamezia as a destination. I emailed them both and all they could say was currently they do not offer flights to this destination! Fingers crossed that maybe next year or sometime soon they will, not sure why they would list it otherwise.

Easyjet are going to Lamezia, however it is only from Milan.

Ryanair have been having problems with their website recently.

I have booked flights Stanstead / Lamezia 27th - 31st October and although the flights do not now appear on the web site Ryanair have confirmed that the flights will go ahead as planned.

The reduction of winter routes is going to start early in November but I read that the Italian routes account for nearly 20% of Ryanairs income so I think it would be strange if they were to reduce some of their most viable routes.

I think the state of their website at the moment is a bit of a problem and is not particularly reassuring for customers, things may appear worse than they really are.

A or so after posting my last reply I got an e mail from Ryanair saying my flights had been cancelled.

The message I received said the Stanstead - Lamezia route was suspended 27th Oct to 1st Feb 2009.

So I have rebooked with Easyjet Bristol to Milan then Milan to Lamezia.
