Anyone got an apartment to rent August?

Hello all you gorgeous people (you can tell I'm on my hands and knees, can't you!).

Clean , friendly, non-smoking, tea drinking careful/respectful family of 2 adults and 2 children (youngest age 9) are looking for an apartment rental in Scalea. We are having to take our Summer holiday later than usual, in the expensive and busy August month (from 9th August onwards) I am struggling to get a decent priced holiday or reasonably priced rental apartment.

Do any of you have (or know of) an apartment to rent in Scalea that is walkable to the train station? I've already enquired via the usual rental sites, but of course, they are all booked up already (the ones that are walkable).

I would consider further out but don't want to hire a car, so unless you have other transport ideas I can't consider that.

I have a feeling the answer is no, but I guess if you don't ask in the first place....but feel free to PM me with any suggestions (er, nice ones please )

Woo, I've 42 viewings of this post and a flurry of replies - however, I'm still looking for a more central, walkable location if anyone knows of one.

I forgot to mention in the post above, that we all have our own teeth, just in case that makes a difference.

Hi, I have a 2 bedroom apartment in Petrosa on the hill. It is 1.5km to the beach but there is a bus going up and down all day. There is also a supermarket and pizza place up there too. The apartment is available from the 1st Aug to the 11th August only. I dont know if this is any use to you.

Now seriously, thanks for the bus info - sounds good. Does it run during the evening too?

I thought there weren't any Taxi's in Scalea but one of your 'neighbours' says there is. Anyone else expand on the taxi situation?

There is usually a number of taxis waiting outside the station.
Never used one myself but I'm led to believe they can be quite pricey.

Melanie1: Thanks for that link, it seems I've tried that one and all the others, but because its the August Italian getaway, everything is booked for that month. I appreciate your help.

Now all I need to find out is how often those buses go from Petrosa Hill area (not sure on specifics) to Scalea town and back, and when they cease. Think that might be a problem to find out.
Any ideas?

Our apartment is in Petrosa, the hill is't that bad(well at least going down), we are there in August, and if you can squeeze in our fiesta, your more than welcome for a lift.
