Thumbs up

Hi Michael

I am fairly sure that the shop above the spar supermarket sell the folding guest bed type thing?, but not a true camp bed.
The shop above the spar tends to sell a modest range of Beds, Sofa`s, Chairs, Tables, TV & HiFi and white electrical goods, some of which are available to take away or for delivery.

Best wishes

John

Hi Michael;

Elaine and I saw one, just yesterday, at Dieterlandia: one of the several everything-under-the-sun shops along corso Mediterraneo.

ciao

Gian

Default Hey Gian

The main items Doug and I will be looking for when we return this July are:

1. Bed Linen
2. A long table for the terrace that in the future will be for guest dinners and plants (when no dinners) but while we are there, will be our only table on the terrace. So, that would be iron and mosaic tiles???????
3. Two chairs that would have a prayer to go with the above.

So, it sounds like you have been to lots of places, if you have seen any on the above, let us know where.

Thanks so much, Di

P.S. One of the first places I will check out is the second hand antique-sort-of place you mentioned.

Ciao Di;

my reply (yesterday 16th) to your query seems to have disappeared. Had directions to get to a "builders supplier" business in San Nicola.

Anyway, today we bumped into something similar to what you're looking for, at the Diamante "I Pini" shopping centre, in the Center Gross shop. Cast iron table - rather than wrought iron - and mosaic top, although the tiles were ceramic-like, rather than the classic translucent type. One thing, though, did not match your specifications: it was a round table (about 120 cm diameter). Also, I suspect the price of Euro 399.00 may not meet with your approval!

Will let you know if I see more stuff.

ciao

Gian

They are selling camp beds above the Spar for 52 euros.

Kind Regards

Ciao Gian,

I dunno, it's worth a look, just cause I had a long table in mind doesn't mean a round one won't work. I'll write this down in my "book". Thanks!!

I've never been real sure what wrought iron really is. Anything metal and painted black, not?

Hi Di;

you're welcome. In any case, I diagnosed cast iron just by the time honoured "eyeballing" technique, without actually touching the thing. Cast iron (ghisa in Italian, it's usually an amalgam) would be very heavy-sounding and heavy-feeling (and usually weighs a tonne). As for wrought iron, I usually associate it with pure iron worked into shapes by hand or similar techniques. Usually much lighter than ghisa.

ciao

G.

B.T.W. was at SDT today. Will send some pics of the outside of your apartment.
