Passion of Christ - Cirella - Saturday 22/03/08 The performance, which will take place on Holy Saturday starting at 15.30, faithfully retraces the Passion of Christ as it is narrated in the Gospel of Matthew. The esplanade in Cirella will take the place of Calvary, where there will be two scenes, Jesus hunting sellers from the temple and Judas selling to the chief priests, then to piazza Margherita, which will host the Last Supper of Christ and the denial of Peter, then through to piazza S. Maria dei Fiori, for a representation of two other milestones of the Passion: those of Gethsemane and Jesus before the Sanhedrin, and the beautiful scenery of the Hotel Ducale and the beach in front of Cirella will host the final scene: Jesus is brought before Pilate, the crucifixion and deposition. The high point of the earthly life of Jesus is still the crucifixion, which will be represented in all its realism and in his drama: overlooking the sea of Cirella and it's island, the three crosses that welcome Jesus and the two thieves, in a sacred representation that there is very touching from a human point of view and position of symbolic meanings regarding ethical and religious.
Apologies for the translation - best I can do at this time of night!
