Default garden centres

Hello,
We are newly registered on the forum but have been avid readers for the past 10 months and have finally decided to post something!

We have recently purchased an apartment in lovely Scalea and are staying at Easter.

We would like to do our garden. Does anyone know of a garden centre nearby?
We are currently bringing our linen backwards and forwards, does anyone know of a launderette? We would much rather fill our suitcases with fine Italian food and wine than bed linen!

Thanks, the Lee family.

Welcome Lee Family:

We have a garden center in San Nicola - I purchased several plants from them last summer and they speak/understand a little English.

Hi lucy.I think the place cool has mentioned is the same one we go to on the coast road its very hard to tell you exactly where it is on that road there are no signs , but here goes, about a 10 min walk past the hotel principal (hotel on your left)then there is a very steep drive way into a house and its at the back of his house.I know crap directions, but it took us ages to find it we kept driving up and down, they only sell plants we bought a few bits for our garden, best bet is to join the diy troops for a drink on the Sat night then I can point you in the right directio.n Seems like everybody is over at Easter to do some kind of diy work(yea right)I thought that was my excuse and mine only xxFifi

Thanks for the info, we often have these ideas on DIY projects but there is always something better to do like sitting on the balcony looking at the sea and talking about it!

We will check them out. Do they only sell plants because we need a gate and possibly some sort of fencing. Thanks again, Lucy

Hi,

There is a garden centre heading from Scalea to Santa Maria del Cedro on the left hand side, just before the river. I will try to find the name and will post.

They sell trees, plants, pots etc

Kind Regards
Melanie

That garden centre is called "vivaio Belcastro" and is visible from the coast road goinig towards Scalea from Santa Maria del Cedro. These sell everything!

Also if its a gardener you need ie. someone to do everything and/or mantainance then try:

Francesco Sarro - 3386544755

He did my place and made an amazing job.

Default Re Garden Centre

The Eurospar in Scalea had fruit trees for sale in the grocery section when I was there less than 2 weeks ago. They were very reasonaply priced. Does anyone know if Ikea in Naples sell garden furniture.I have looked on there web sight but no mention is made of garden furniture. As we dont have Ikea in Southern Ireland I have no way of checking it out . Annette

Yes, Annette, Ikea do have garden furniture - but only in "the season" and not a huge selection.
We bought a little table and outdoor chairs at Ikea Naples back in April 2006.
Maybe you could have a look online nearer the time IKEA | arredamento, arredamenti, arredo, mobili, cucina, cucine, divano, divani, letto, letti, librerie

Default Garden furniture Ikea

Hi Lesley .Thanks for the info about garden furniture in Ikea.I bought a small table & 4 chairs last Easter when I was furnishing the appartment. I will go to their web in April . Do you have any idea if they deliver from Naples to Scalea and how much they would charge. How are the Italian Lessons coming along.
Regards Annette

Hi Annette,
Yes Ikea deliver and they charge 9% of the order amount up to an order value of € 5,000 (with a minimum amount of € 55 up to a maximum of € 225) The rate drops to 4.5% on the excess of orders over € 5,000.
Then there is an addition depending on location and we are in their Zone three which is an additional charge of € 64.

So I'd say it is only worth doing if you were furnishing a whole apartment in one go......

Apparently they will post items less than 30kg in weight, with a maximum length of 150cm, maximum height of 100cm and max depth of 100cm for € 15.

Lessons are great! I was even complimented this week on my enthusiasm.
Oops, sorry my halo has slipped again and is threatening to strangle me.....
