ENEL yearly cost???

Hi there, I've just been checking my bills as I get they paid through the property management company David and Melanie suggested. I've noticed that I had four bill from ENEL in 2007 totalling 440 euro.

As I only have a small appartment and it was only used for a total of 15 days in 2007, the ENEL bill seems a little steep. I just wanted to know roughly if other people with similar circumstances are being charged the same?

I also notice from other post that you can pay your own ENEL bill on line, how does this work?

Firstly, is your electricity meter the new type that can read itself and send in readings to Enel? (so that you can be sure you bills are not being estimated).
Do the bills you mention include the initial change into your name? (As this will include the connection/set-up charge and will usually be higher than the rest).
Do you turn off your electricity when the property is empty?
Bills are usually sent out every 2 months so you could expect 6 each year. If there has been little or minimal useage Enel will sometimes carry forward one bill and add it to the next (if it is 40 euros or less or thereabouts).

Paying Enel online used to be very simple (once you had registered and got a password and username).
For the last four or five months it has been impossible to use this service with a credit card that wasn't issued in Italy.
Not sure if this will be a permananent thing but it has rendered the online payment facility useless for us and many others I know.
(I paid our last bill at a petrol station on the SS18 - so at least saved a half hour queue at the Post Office!!)

I think set up and change over costs were included in my 2006 bill of 113 euro, but I'd only had the flat for 7 months of 2006.

I switch everything off when I leave, but I am now wondering if these are estimated bills. I will contact the property managedment company and ask if they can scan and email me the bills.

Would you say that the amount I have been charged is a little steep compared to your usage?

Hi there,

I would first get a copy of all the ENEL receipts. If this matches the money spent then it could be an issue with ENEL. If i'm not mistaken you had your metre changed from old style to new which has a cost attached. Also if you had work done don't forget the electric consumption because of that. Other than that I can't think of any other possible explanations.

However if the money spent does not match the receipts then you should ask why when you are next in Scalea. They may have made a mistake or lost a receipt etc... Impossible to say at this stage.

Thanks for that we'd forgot we'd had the work done in 2007, I think I need to go blond again.

Is Nadia still the contact at the bill paying / property management company as we have tried call her this week but have not got an answer and there is no voice mail?

We are worried as we need to send money for possible bills in the next five months as we don't think we'll be back in Scalea until July. Any suggestions?:-?
