Try ViaMichelin: street map, maps, map UK, route finder, route planner, directions, road map, route map If you enter Ciampino and Ikea's address you get the detailed route and a map.

There are two Ikea stores in Rome but you will most likely be wanting the one at Rome Anagnina.
Here is the address - it is very close to the airport.

IKEA Roma Anagnina
via anagnina, 81
00173 ROMA

Default Parco Meridiana

Hi Alyson

I am also buying in Parco Meridiana and will be most interested in how the work is progressing.
We will be there on the 21st March. What estate agents did you use? We used Easy Immobiliare. They are efficient but they don't speak much English. They seem to avoid any of my questions regarding occupancy. Do you intend to fit mosquito nets at your windows and doors?

Perhaps we will see you there in the future.

Ciao

John

Hi John

will post an update on the progress when we get back, hopefully we will be able to stay there if electricity/water are connected, when did you last visit site? We bought through Scalea Property Services David & Tony who are both English but speak fluent Italian, we couldn't have done it without them as our Italian is limited to ordering a beer or a glass of wine at the moment, the agent was Anna from Easy immobilare. About the mosquito nets, we haven't thought about that yet, but will make enquiries when we are over. Will let you know how we get on & if we manage to find our way from ikea rome......regards Alyson & George

Cool buying in parco Meridiana

Hi Alyson and John,
My husband and I have also bought an apartment at Parco Meridiana. We were last out in January to have a look on site and we felt it was a bit to early to complete as our apartment didn't have connections to main drains yet.
We are buying through Easy Immobilari too. Anna brought along a friend of hers to translate for us when we there last, her name is Rosemary, she speaks amazing english and was a great help.
Great to see someone else is buying from Glasgow. Would be great to have proper chat with you Alyson about flights and shipping furniture. We were considering driving over with a load of stuff but we could maybe share a van if your interested in getting stuff out there to..
Also do you realise there is Ikea in Naples a bit nearer for you to drive to from Scalea.

Default Parco Meridiana

Hi Caroline and Alyson

Thanks for the information.

I, too, am dealing with Anna from Easy Immobilare. Lets hope that Rosemary is available for us when we visit the Notary. I am reluctant to ask my friends from Naples to travel all the way down to Scalea for that meeting.

We are traveling out on 21st March and are hoping to use the apartment for the duration of our stay.

When you said that the services were not connected, did you mean to your block, because when we were there last October there were some people staying in an apartment on the ground floor block I. Did they expect you to complete in January with your apartment and the complex not complete?

We have bought an apartment in block H, first floor. Lets hope that everything is in order for us to complete in March or we might have to travel up to Naples for accomodation.

I will be grateful if you can keep me in touch with any furter developments.

Grazia

John

Hi Caroline,John & Lynn
We can also recommend Hotel Continental at the station, very reasonable & great food. We usually fly into Rome from Prestwick & hire a car, the drive down takes approx 5 hours. this time we are hiring a van & hope to get some furniture, we have already made the booking Caroline or we would have been interested in sharing van. We have bought a 1st Floor in block B, apartment was complete and hopefully kitchen will be fitted by next week. Im sure we will meet up with you some time, will keep you posted on progress...regards Alyson & George.

PS Caroline I have sent pm with my phone number, if you would like to call sometime

Default Parco Meridiana

This is our first entry on the forum - so please bear with us!

We have also just bought on Parco Meridiana (Block A). We were out in January to complete the purchase and do the notary stage (very entertaining!). We are going back out at the beginning of March to stay in our appartment (the builder knows this and has assured us that there will be no problem with this although the mains electric will not be connected) we will be able to use the site electric (apparently this is not unusual when buying on a development as they don't connect to the mains until the end.)
We hope that everything will work out but we will have to wait and see.

We are really excited about going out again and can't wait but we just don't want any problems when we get there. We were very impressed with the finish and quality of fittings when we last visited the site

When we went out last we met a lady in the Arieta furniture store with Anna and another English couple who were with us at the notary- were either of these one of you by any chance? It sounds like we will already have a ready made community in place when we visit!

Regards ...... Kevin & Jayne

Post Parco Meridiana

Hello fellow buyers at Parco Meridiana,
Good to be in contact with you all. Good to hear from you Kevin (my friend and I met you in the kitchen shop in January).
My advice to you all from what we saw when we went out in January would be to go up a few days before you sign with the notary and have a really good look around the site and your apartment before you sign.
We were told our apartment was ready in January and this wasn't the case some of the basic services were not in place and we were concerned about his intention to leave us connected to a generator for electricity for the foreseeable future as they can be noisy and unreliable.
We wouldn't buy a flat here without checking it out first so its common sense to apply the same rules there. If anyone wants to e-mail me personally I would be delighted to hear from them.
Alyson will give you a call at the weekend as I am working late for the next few days.
See you all in Scalea.

Where is the Arieta furniture store and is it worth a visit. We need quite a lot of stuff.

Smile Parco Meridiana

We too have bought in Parco Meridiana, it's great to hear about others who have also decided to do the same. We moved into our apartment last July and completed at the notary's in August. Everything went as smoothly as you might expect: the notary session was somewhat intimidating (and very lengthy) but with the assistance of David Thorpe interpreting for us, it was quite painless.

The apartment is lovely, but we did have teething problems, which you always expect with a new build. Luckily the builders were on site to fix the problems - I think they thought we were mad spending our two week holiday with two children on a building site, but we couldn't wait to move in.

Since then we have visited again during October half term and are planning another visit at Easter.

Anna (from Easy) doesn't speak a great deal of English but has been very helpful, as are the builders and Pino the developer.

We're looking forward to seeing the progress with the pool, it should be fantastic once complete.

I hope everyone's purchases go through smoothly; I'm happy to help if anyone has any queries with the complex.

Hi Ali

We're going to have quite a party if we all get together out there. I was interested to learn that you had David Thorpe to interpret for you. Did you use him from the start or did you pay extra for his services at the Notary. We have been quoted 400 euros for the use of an interpreter.

What Block are you in? Did you have all the services connected? ie water, electric, sewage and drainage etc. What dates will you be there at Easter? We are there from 21st March until the 6th April.

I tried to upload a recent photograph of the pool but the file was too big.

Ciao

John

Default Van Hire

Hi Alyson,

I was interested to see you are hiring a van. Can you let me know which hire company you use and what the approx. cost is?

We fly into Naples on 15th March and usually go to Ikea before driving to Scalea but a van would be better as we have a few large items to get.

Thanks,

Shirley.

Hi Ali,
Whilst I admire your pioneering spirit I have to agree with the builders I think your nuts for staying up there. This is maybe just me but if I wanted to stay somewhere with dodgy electricty supply, no hot water and no working toilets I'd go camping (Although I think your block looked a lot more finished than the others, maybe yours has got all the basic services in place, ours didn't when I last visited).

What happened at night when the builders left the site for the day? did they lock you in or give you a key for the padlock on the gate? Is there any lighting up there after dark? Is your stuff not all dusty? all the furniture in the show flats were covered in it.

I think the developer was hoping we were all going to be as laid back as you and be happy to get the keys when the place was still a complete building site, no chance I hate camping. Your a braver woman than me!
