Default skiing

Hello everybody,

I bought an apartment in Scalea this time last year, and have loved the place every time that I visited. The area around Scalea is beautiful, and, who knows, with low cost flights coming, it could also be a great investment. One question that I do have is does anybody know about skiing in the area. Apparently you are supposed to be able to ski in the Sila mountains. Does anybody know if this is true, and if so, when and from where?

Mark

Ciao,

We were also curious about the skiing so last April me, Melanie and Tony went to investigate!

In th morning we were having coffee in 24 Degrees in Scalea, 1 hours 30mins later there was 1 metre of snow and we were in Campigliatello Silano!! The contrast was amazing.

In early April the ski lifts were still open but we spoke to the Man running them and he said that they were open going to be open for a few days more as the snow was melting. So the season officially runs from Late December until March. The town of Campigliatello is beautiful especially when covered in snow. The ski pistes are signposts and no more than a few kilometres from the town.

There are 3 different pistes with 8km of runs in total. The runs are mostly green and blue so not great for advanced skiing, but for beginners it is more than good enough. The lifts are mostly all brand new and have had some recent investiment. We intend to visit this March to try the skiing so we'll update the site.

I think the pistes suit a 3 day minibreak rather than a full skiing holiday.

If anyone else knows anything please let me know.

A Presto, David

Ciao,

Thank you, David. We are in Scalea in mid March, so will investigate further. I'll post a further reply on here then.
