Default Trains and OAPs

Hi

My mum and dad are going to Scalea (alone for the first time!) and will be doing Naples/Scalea on the train. Does anyone know if they will get any discounts for being an OAPs please? And, am I better trying to book their tickets online in advance if I can?
Thanks for your help
Debbie

There is an Italian equivalent of a Senior rail card which I think costs about 30 euros a year. This gives discounts but is only really worth buying if you would be making enough trips to make it worthwhile.

Hi debbi Iwould sugest you book on line you can chhose your time and type of train. The que can be sometimes a wee bit long. When you book on line just print off your ticket when they arrive at the ststion they must print off their tickrt from thee selservice machine. Its in English so easy to follow the steps. They must punch the tickets before they get on the train these are little orange boxes on the pillars, and just watch out for the platform no. (bin)that is printed on the ticket. There arent many signs in English around the station to point you in the right direction. On return do head to the Scalea station a few days before, the guy there prints off the tickets, and he tends to open and close the office at will.XFifi

The travel agent on Fiume Lao at the end opposite the cemetery will book train tickets at the samr price as Trenitalia, they are agents for FS, and he speaks good English so you can discuss where you want to sit etc.
