Default Golf Club San Michele

Has anyone tried the golf course at San Michele in Cetraro? My boys and my dad want to try it in March during the Easter week.

Hi Janet,
I know Glen has played there quite often and seems to enjoy it.
Not sure if he looks in here very regularly though so I will try to contact him to get a review "from the horses mouth" and let you know.

Feedback I have received so far is that....
It's a nine hole course.
Probably fine for beginners/improvers but not for those who have high expectations from the best golf courses ....

Hope this helps (from a complete golf no-idea-at-all person aka Lesley)
If you have any specific questions I can ask will endeavour to ask them and post answers here - just let me know!)

Golf San Michele is interesting if nothing else!! It has nine "greens" and 18 tees. The scenery is fantastic but the course is on a farm so don't be surprised to see people picking fruit inbetween fairways. The fairways are fairly tight and mainly clover leaf but in reasonable condition. However the "greens" are continuously attacked by insects.
There is a driving range, a putting green and a chipping area (as well as a smal pro shop, bar and changing rooms).Anna runs the pro shop and speaks very good English.
Whether you are a high, mid or low handicap player it is a must. It's only a 30 minute drive from Scalea.
One final thing; you might find the pro shop shut between 1-3ish!

Default Calabrian Golf

Hi Glen- I walked around the first tee and fairway when there last fall and it seems like one of the little courses around here that may not be super, but have character! My most-played funky one here doesn't have insect trouble, but the elk are on the greens at night leaving nice divots and droppings to contend with! My internet searches have not found any other courses in Calabria. What is your experience with the rest of the Region or even Basillicata?? San Michele will be nice given the proximity, but I don't mind driving an hour or so for a course if there are others. Thanks, Doug

yes it certainly has character and as far as i'm aware it is the only course in the area and then some. The first hole is fairly typical of the rest of the course;dog-legs and can be tight. Some shots are quite nerve racking but on the whole it's great fun and i tend to only go round once;it makes a great break from the normal holiday routine.
I did hear that there was a driving range at Brazzanno (not sure that i'v spelt that right -Leslie will know) but i've not been there.

Glen:

Do you bring your own clubs or do you rent from the clubhouse?

I have a set of irons (and a bag) in Scalea that anyone is welcome to use. You are probably better off taking your own balls (you might need a few!).The club house does have some clubs-mainly blades.
