Giro D'Italia 2008

Giro D'Italia (the famous cycle race) starts off from Sicily on Saturday May 10th 2008.
The cyclists will be passing through our area and Stage 5 (170km) leaves Belvedere Marittimo on 14th May 2008 going North along the coast and into Basilicata.

Oh well, i know one things for sure, we wll be goin HOME for that occasion!!! Its my birthday on the 12th may, and we couldnt make it last year!!!! Ive never seen Steve so pleased when u mailed me about the giro!!! Steve has been to france to watch the tour de france for the last two years and said next year he wants to watch the giro, so his mind has been made up..... leave is getting put in tomoz.....but he is supposed to be goin to afghan in march.......lets see how much he can be a YES man he can be until then!!! :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:

For anyone who has yet to meet Steve Baker, let me give you a scenario... Brian and I got off a flight last year and saw this huge red rectangular "parcel" being offloaded from the luggage carousel. Very curious we ventured the question "What on earth is that!!!" but we picked up our bags and went through to meet Sergio who was transporting us home. Not long thereafter we see this big red parcel come through attached to a little blonde bloke (If you can, try to think "Action Man" but for real) and I say "I'm so pleased that belongs to you - I've been really curious to know what is in it". "It's my bike" says Steve. Gill and Emily are with Steve and Gill tells us that Steve goes out on his bike around and about - in the mountains!!- for 4 or 5 hours a day...can you imagine???

haha, lesley the action man label made me laugh!!!! All my family call him that too, but he hasnt got a switch in the back of his neck that makes his eyes go left to right!!!well not that i know of...... yeah he loves his cycling... it was i that chose scalea for a place to lay our hat when he gets out of the army!!! Steve didnt really fancy it until we got to go down and visit!! He was in awe of the cycling routes that he made up!!! When we were last there in august, he met an ex pro cyclist on holiday from naples,and enjoyed a few rides out, he said steve was a freak, and that he admired his determination....!!!!hopefully i will be fetchin my motorbike down so if brian fancies a lal blast on my bike, he is welcome!!! see you soon xx and yes its so hard trying to be good at the mo, we have 4 mess occasions to go to in the next week and its all nice food and alcohol, but i will try my hardest.... more running i think!!! And you and brian are not old fogies, you are the most fortunate couple we know ...fit... retired....living in belvedere....so jealousxxxx 8) 8)
