MEETING PLACE FOR SCALEA INFO MEMBERS IN SCALEA

Hi Members

I have been thinking about it for ages that we should find a bar in Scalea that is suitable for all where we can meet up as members if anyones got any ideas let us know . I don't know Scalea as well as others as have only been 3 times so its all new to me but I thought this would be a nice idea then when people want to meet up on here it can be our meeting place if you should so wish.

I personally like Il Corsaro as the prices are great and the food is excellent. The place is also very chilled out. Also Restaurant Silver closes in winter. MY local pub in Scalea "Social pub clandestino" is a reggae/ska theme bar and is great for a evening meet up. It is on Via Lauro near the junction of Via del Mulino.

There are too many good places to meet to name... Incidentally I am in Scalea between 1-4 Nov should anyone fancy a bite to eat or a drink.

I realised that I have made a mistake regarding Silver, it is open out of season as I have eaten there in October.

Bar Torre, Via Kennedy, is a good place to meet and to sit outside and watch the world go by and is very central.
Gino and Michaela are lovely people and he makes his own ice-cream!

Where is Via Kennedy? It sounds nice especially if they make their own icecream1
How far is it from Bar Playa or Hotel Talao?/
Nice to know people on here are showing some interest of meeting places

Hi all,

Bar La Torre is on the street running parallel to Corsa Mediterrano (where La Playa is) overlooking a bit of a park and looking towards the tower (which as you will know is next to La Playa). Just around the corner from the garage that is at the bottom of Centro Storico if you head towards the sea.
Hope this makes some sense.

When it comes to food - or drink especially - I am on a mission to find as many places as possible to visit and recommendations will be forthcoming as I get a chance!

We had a wonderful hour or so at Bar La Torre with Gino one afternoon (who it transpires is the same age as Brian) and even though Gino has no English he is very good with hand signals :lol:

He is going to take Brian into the country while I cook dinner with Micheala sometime soon he says.......think personally it should be the other way around (although anything cooked by Brian would be a challenge to those eating it!).......

Yet another occasion when the lovely people of Calabria made our day.
With every experience like that (along with the amazing neighbours we have) every visit is better than the last and to anyone thinking of taking the plunge and buying in the area we'd say "Go for it"!
