Italian or English Will? - Scalea Info Forums

Not the happiest of subjects, but I am keen to ensure that our new appartment is covered. I have looked into English/Italian wills and it would appear that under Italian law; UK nationals living in the UK would be covered by UK laws BUT under UK law a property in Italy falling into probate would come under Italian law (hooray for the union). I have read that getting your English will translated and posted with a notary may suffice. Any ideas on the easiest solution?

We are currently investigating this issue (along with taxation and a myriad of the other implications of being in Italy. We are paying for some individual advice from a cross-border specialist).
Again, like Doug's questions re residency and healthcare, I think it is impossible to generalise and it is very much dependent on individual circumstances so I would suggest it needs specialised advice on a individual case-by-case basis.
