Default Horse Riding

Hi All

My daughter is coming out with us next year and would be interested in going horse riding. I have seen some pictures which I believe might be in the Pollino National Park. Does anyone know if there is anywhere in the area surrounding Scalea where you can go riding and how to go about arranging it?

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy & Kath,
We did a Jeep excursion into the National Park and they had an option to follow it with a trek on horseback.
I would imagine it could also be done as a stand-alone thing.
It would be fantastic to get into the national park on horseback and our friend Linda who visited us in September has that earmarked as a "must do" activity when she comes back to see us next.
Here's the link again to the Jeep adventure site and Tony organised our trip for us so I feel sure he could speak to them about horse-riding.
www.jeepadventure.it
There's also a riding centre in Belvedere which is part of a lovely new agriturismo and which looks very professional.
We are hoping to find time to make a visit so will report back when we have been but in the meantime here's the link:

Hope this is useful, Lesley

I'm pretty sure they do horse riding at the La Bruca complex as certainly there are stables with horses there all the time, certainly worth checking.

Hi all,

Had a great time last week especially enjoyed meeting old and new friends on Saturday night - we've tried to find the horse-riding at La Bruca drove up and down asked the builders but no-one knew where it was. Tony told us about a place on the back road between Marcellina and Scalea but here was a guy there in full riding gear with a horse that could well have been Shergar who nearly had a heart attack when I asked if the kids could ride the horse - although he did say to go into the nearby farmhouse to arrange but no-one there. The kids did get to go on a horse this trip at Golden Park Ranch - Orsomarso (on the way into the national park) but there is one horse and they got to trot around a field twice. We'll keep trying. John and Yvonne (Cool) we got into the sea the weekend after you are over.... next time eh...

Hi Kevin, Niamh and the girls !
(Keep the posts coming and you'll soon have lots of stars )
Here's another place I have come across whilst leafing through a local magazine.
Have no experience of them but their website is informative (and will test out some of your Italian language skills!)
They are out Maratea way:

Default Another horsy place!

Hi all,
We were invited to lunch at Derek & Monica's (Santa Domenica Tala) on Sunday (bless them for having us - it was fab!) and on the way there we passed what looked like brand new signs for a horse trekking place on the road heading towards SD Talao.
I made Brian slow down so that I could read it in case there was a website or anything mentioned but there wasn't.
Age (and the fact that the ridiculous amount of alcohol I consume is eroding my brain cells on a daily basis) means that I can't for the life of me remember what the sign actually read, so apologies for that.
But if anyone heads out the back of Scalea in the direction of SD Talao and finds out just where they are, what they are called and what they do, please let us all know.
Lesley (The sign was green and had a horses' head on it....lame I know)

Hi,
if you are looking for the horses at La Bruca then turn off the SS18 for Marcellina and go past the new build complex (our property is there) and turn left at the Cash and Carry and first left into the La Bruca complex and the stables are at the far end on the right...not sure where the offices are or even if they are doing horse riding.Hope this helps.

Here's a link to the Equestrian Centre at Il Borgo dei Piani at La Bruca.
Last year (May and September if I remember rightly) there was a regional show-jumping competition.

Hi Maisy

Another option is Google Translate which is also good, it has a sound button so you can hear how to pronounce it.
You can also set up Google translate on your computer and it will translate web pages, letters, anything automatically or when you instruct it.
Just another choice.

June
