Hi all,
As I am always gleeful to report when it is sweltering I thought it best to come clean and let you know that this morning it was chucking it down here (although not cold!).
We have had a variable couple of weeks in fact with some really fabulously sunny days, some cloudy days, some torrential rain (mostly through the night but sometimes during the day) and some absolutely fantastic thunderstorms.
This morning about 3.30 am (it usually seems to be around that time actually) we had some astoundingly loud claps of thunders that felt like they could lift you out of bed.
Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "earth-moving bedtime experience".
Amazingly though some people can sleep right through it......
Lesley

Hi Cool,

Just to reassure you - normal service resumed here in sunny Italy.
Yesterday lovely and today was fabulous.
According to Brian the forecast today was that it would be "variable" and he reckons there has been no variation - just sun all the way

Best wishes, Lesley

Hi Roy,
Just make sure you don't bring any rain with you!
And I gather your arrival heralds Phyl & Daves's departure....what was that you said about people leaving for the UK when you get here....

See you soon!
Lesley

See I told you so!!!
My daughter has just had a baby (good excuse!!)
We are just going to sit down with our last glass of "mamas" wine that our daughter bought back for us, just in time for the rugby.
Hope to see you soon.

Hi Roy and Mary,
Trying to find out about live Rugby final for you(Sky sport just seems to be listing a studio post mortem).
To get back on the topic of the weather...the boyo has now added a hedge trimmer to his list of tools so was out trimming the conifers at the front of the house yesterday (because they spoil his view!)
He was only out there about an hour and a half but obviously really caught the sun because his face was bright red last night.
We bought a new indoor/outdoor thermometer recently (from the ubiquitous Lidl up the road) and it is reading 32 degrees in direct sunshine at 11.22am just now.

Hi Cool,
Lidl is at Cetraro (just off the SS18) and you can see it from the main road.
From Scalea direction after the hospital (big, ugly brown building on the right overlooking the sea) take the second sign that says "porto" to leave the SS18.
Then at the T junction turn left and its about 500 yards on your right.
Its open every day including Sunday and doesn't close for siesta!
It closes at lunchtime on a Thursday but otherwise is open all the way through.
If you go online you can check out the current and upcoming offers

Hope this helps, Lesley

Default lidl!!!!

hi there,
when we were over in August, we ventured out to lidls, we are currently living in Germany, so we get all our fruit and veg there!!!! my daughter Emily was dancing in the shopping aisle when she spotted tins of baked beans, a rare sight in Italy!!!
So we bought a couple of tins!!!!! BEWARE!!! AFTER A NEAR FATAL CHOKING INCIDENT,EMILY DESCRIBED LIDLS BEANS AS TRYING TO EAT A MOUTHFUL OF BULLETS!!!!!
We wont be buying them again she said!!!! Otherwise most of the produce was good!!!

Hi Gill,
I can absolutely concur that indeed Lidl's beans that are available here are absolutely dreadful!
Small and hard and absolutely nothing like Heinz!
If anyone wants to try them I think we have a tin still in the kitchen cupboard...

Gosh you will make me blush with praise like that.....
Maybe I'm just a sad soul with nothing better to do with my time???
In fact I have been very busy cooking today (Yes, Mrs Chapman you read that right!).
Have made a leak frittata and a bacon and onion one.
Also some vegetable broth for tomorrow lunch. For tonight's dinner I did pollo umido con patate followed by bread and butter pudding.
Brian is starting to get worried as he must be thinking I've been spending money or something (Shhh.....I have but don't tell him yet...)

Yes, we remember you all very well (suspect you and Brian have the same sense of humour considering the way you were both giggling that night).
And I do hope there will be a night out as we spent last Saturday night at home! First in ages.

[quote p/s i need to post more often /quote]
Yes you do!
See you soon, lesley
