We have registered with italian property management (www.italianpropertymanagement.com},run by a local estate agent Biagio Propato. It costs 150 euros a year for the service, you leave him money each time you visit Scalea and he arranges to pay your bills.Your account is posted on the internet so that you can check it and he gives you the receipts when you visit.
So far it is working really well and this is our second year.He pays electricity,ICI and water.
Hope this helps
Best wishes
Carol

Hello Roy and Mary!
Hope you are well (will catch you at some point as we seem to usually be in the Uk when you are here in Italy!)
We view and pay our Enel bills online via www.enel.it
The meter reads itself, we get an email when a bill is due and we pay with a credit card.
You just need to register at http://www.enel.it/sportello_online/...cita/Index.asp
We have managed to pay all our electricity bills this way wherever we happen to be.
Hope this helps (e-mail me if you need any more info)
Regards, Lesley

Hi ROY & Mary, we have a direct debit for our Electricity bill which was sorted out by our estate agent & so far we have not had a problem, but one thing does spring to mind, what type of account do you have?
are you sure that yours has a direct debit option,I am sure that some "foreigner" accounts are investment type accounts and not current accounts for bill paying ??
Just a thought

best wishes
John & Josephine

ps we are in Maidenhead

Hi John,
We are over at the end of October when you are and we would like to meet up.
We drove down in May and left our old car there. It was so good to have during the long summer holidays, our eldest daughter is still there!
That's a brilliant price, how do you travel from Rome?
We are flying Heathrow - Rome - Lamezia with Alitalia.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Roy & Mary

We would love to meet up sometime at the end of October, that would be great.

For my short trip we will drive down from Rome, have booked a 4 door compact ( Alfa 147 size ) with Auto Europe, via the link on the home page of this site for £82.00 nil excess. I have used them quite a bit and am very happy with their service at Rome, Naples or Lamezia.

We are very easy to find as we are on Via Lauro, 2mins walk from the spar shop

Ps Have just been looking at a flight from Stanstead to Naples with Easy Jet in mid March for £62, this would be good as its Josephine`s Birthday.

Best Wishes John

John and Josephine,
We will PM you nearer the time to arrange the meet up.
We are the other side of Scalea, up the hill by Hotel de Rosa, Petrosa.
See you soon,
Roy and Mary

Hi Roy,
I think the PM service is still not functioning correctly in case you try to use it later.
Bumped into Phyl & Dave in Maratea port yesterday (along with the Americans who have bought in Parco Roma).
Email me nearer your arrival and we'll make a point of coming over (or you could come here!)

Same goes for John & Josephine!
Regards, Lesley & Brian

Hi Roy and Mary,

Ray and I will be over from 26th September until 14th October and we would love to meet up with you again too. We'll have to arrange something with Lesley and Brian, be great to see you both again! Found some great wine at one of our local haunts Roy, it gives Mama's a run for her money, just hope they have some left when we get back!

All the best, Jacqui and Ray.

Hi Jacqui and Ray,
Its been quite a while since we had a wee drink at your house!!. Unfortunately we are going over half term week, which is after you return, as Mary works in a school. so we will have to meet up another time.
Mary and my daughters have just returned after 5 weeks, they had such a good time.
Where are these haunts that would give Mammas vino a run?, come on spill the beans.
Hope to see you in the near future
Roy and Mary

Default travelling and meet up

Hi all
Can I ask how long it takes to drive from Rome. also has anyone drove from Naples, how long is that.
We are looking at coming over half term around 22nd and would love to meet up with anyone over there then as we will be looking at the area with view to buying something there. We have been to lots of other places in Italy and last few times to Capo Vaticano and really like it down this end. Hopefully if Scalea or around is as nice we will get a place.
Cost of flights is not good 465 but isnt it always the way with the school hols.
Hopefully see some of you soon

Cool - Only Club members with 5 stars are allowed to know this well kept secret!
But, as you twist my arm, it is in the Rondella in Scalea old town.
You can buy a large plastic bottle - 5 litres - for 20 euros. They make it on their farm in the mountains. If anyone finds any better wine, please let me know.
Roy

Hi Rubyred

It takes about four and a half hours to drive from Rome and about two hours to drive from Naples. There are very, very major roadworks ongoing on the A3 south from near EBOLI so this slows things up.

We will be over for a week 23rd October, and would be happy to meet up

Best Wishes
John & Josehine
