buying a car in Europe

I know that you have to be an Italian citizen to buy a car there but has anyone looked into buying a car in say France to have in Scalea, we really want to buy a car to leave in Scalea but cannot be mithered to drive it back every year to England for the MOT etc, I am not sure if this can be done or if you can insure a foreign car with an English company??

Any one with any advice on this would be most grateful..

Hi Paul,

I dont know about buying in France.

The other alternative is to buy a brand new car in England, which you dont have to MOT for 3 years, this would be a way round it. You can pick up a brand new cheap car for about £5k. You would then not have to drive it back for 3 years.
