Default Furniture

Hi again,

Trust the weather is gorgeous in Scalea today?

I understand there is a good furniture store in Scalea called Sarubbi?
I am looking to purchase a wardrobe and possibly a 2nd double bed on my visit in a couple of week.
As I can't get down till 1st August I just want to be sure that the furniture stores etc (excluding Spar....I know that is open all the time!)will be open so I can order goods, and that the owners will not all be on summer holiday?
8)
If I understand correctly it usually take a few weeks for goods to be delivered?

Can anybody recommend any other local stores other than Sarubbi?

Thanks as always!

Sarubbi will be open to take orders, however they do not usually deliever and fit in August.

Everything from Sarubbi needs ording and usually takes about a month.

Sarubbi furniture are all very good quality and reasonably priced.

WE bought all our furniture from Sarubbi, I can confimr that even though it is a little more expensive than other places the quality is superb, we bought 2 wrought iron beds,2 solid wood wardrobes and a three seater leather settee, we even got a 26inch lcd TV thrown in free, they deliver and assemble everything which is more than worth it.We have just returned from a two week stay and noticed that sarubbi is now called Casa Si.

Thought we would share our ideas on the furniture situation with the Forum as we found that we were not in Italy long enough to find furniture that we wanted to buy so we took our time looking for the right items in the UK from different sources both on the net and in stores (Feather & Black for Beds, www.mattressnextday.co.uk for mattress's, postershop.co.uk for framed artwork etc, etc) and then had them all shipped as a job lot to Scalea.

It cost us about £450.00 for the shipping agent but we think we saved a fortune over goods of the same quality in Italy.

The spookiest purchase was a couple of Sofa's from a company in Winsford Cheshire who could not deliver to the shipping agent at Heathrow as they said it was out of their area! The suites were however made in Italy so we had them delivered F.O.C. from the manufacturer as a local delivery direct to Scalea.

The main problem with this way of doing things is that you need to be there when the goods arrive otherwise you may run into some major problems.

We want to go to Ikea in Naples which is where we have been flying to the past few times but this keeps presenting us with a challenge as our flights which should arrive in around mid day keep getting changed to 8PM but if we do manage to get a reasonable flight at some point we will go there on our way to Scalea.

Hi
thanks for the info on having furniture sent from uk, its not something we would have even thought about, but if the cost is not too high then perhaps it would be good idea, as like you its being in scalea long enough to look for furniture.we had wondered if there is a van rental company in scalea, or if anyone does an Ikea run from the town, if anyone has any ideas on this please let us know....thanks
alyson

We used http://www.cargobookers.co.uk to ship the goods and had everything delivered direct to them. They then palleted it up and sent it to Scalea.

Hi all

Re furniture from Ikea at Naples, They may well offer a similar delivery service to that on offer here in the uk??
We have just had a corner sofa bed delivered from Wembley to our home( about 30 miles to the west)
We bought it at 7.15pm Friday, paid £70 instore and it was delivered 11.10am Monday. Charges vary due to money spent and post code.
If one went onto the Italian Ikea Website I think that under the customer services section, there is a Costi Transporto section.
My Italian is not very good, but I THINK!!! i got a price of 154euro to deliver 1,000 worth of goods to a 87029 (SCALEA) post code
Someone with better Italian than mine may like to check this out,
ps we have bought stuff twice earlier this year, we found some staff spoke English or were able to get someone who did, so we bought our kitchen & beds no problem and brought them away with us.

Hi All,

We had our kitchen fitted from benvenuto Mobili and also bought all of our beds & kitchen furniture from this place.
On Saturday we managed to speak to staff there and order some more bedroom furniture.
We had to follow up with an email, as they prefer confirmations of orders in this way, and the furniture (wardrobes etc) will be built and delivered to our property by end of August.

Prices are pretty reasonable too.

We have made a couple of trips to Ikea in Naples and got everything we were looking for.

We did enquire about delivery but were told they only deliver when there is a full van load and could not say when that would be.

We got a sofa bed from the furniture store above Spar. They were excellent and delivered it that afternoon. Also got a mattress from another store and they delivered the same day.
