Default Hotel Facilities

I have recently bought an apartment and was out in Scalea perusing around. It appears to be hotting up a little (last week phew!) however, I also noticed that the Hotel Talao and Hotel Parco Dei Principi had DJ's on and many were doing the congo (I snuck into the Talao sheepishly)!.......which got me to thinking. I'm not sure if this topic has been covered (I've searched and tried).

In short, do hotel's let non-customers (for want of a better word!) use their services? e.g. Can you go in for drinks when entertainment is on or during the day - can you use their swimming pool facilities (free or otherwise), etc. I think it would be useful to have an idea of who allows what and when. Then we don't make fools of ourselves when we are thrown out by security! ops:

Thanks

Rich

Rich,

Thats a very good question that you ask, where is the nearest swimming pool in Scalea? we know of the water park nearby, but dont know of any hotels with a swimming pool .
We are heading out to Scalea tomorrow to stay in our newly renovated house for the first time so we are very excited, although we are just waiting for confirmation that ENEL have connected our electricity, we have waited three months and they decide to finish it on the day beore we get there for the first time ( well we hope its finished) we are just waiting for a text from Tony to tell us that it is all done as I type this, no point worrying though Im sure everything will work out, although not sure our six month old son will enjoy living by candle light.

Hello everyone,
I have stayed in the Talao Hotel on two occasions in the past and I know that non residents can use the Dining room for meals. The Hotel has a nice swimming pool at the rear but I'm not sure if it can be used by non residents. Your best idea would be to ask Ada who is the daughter of the owner and speaks good English. Ada works in the Hotel and is often on the reception.
Regards,Billy.

Hi Billy,

Thanks for your response. Yes I saw the pool in the Talao. It looked very nice - My Italian is poor and I didn't realise there was an english speaker there. I shall venture a little further next time I go. Perhaps I just wander into every hotel and see what happens. I don't mind paying for facilities, sometimes it just makes a difference from going to the beach.

Paul - My understanding is that quite a few of the hotels have pools...whether they can be used is a different matter. You mentioned the Water Park - Is that the Aquafan place at Praia A Mare? How much is it to go in there?

Hi Sue - Thanks for the message. Do you mean it is open for 'everything' or just for meals & drinking? Also where is it? Thanks again

Hi everyone,

Aqua fans has the following website
www.aquafans.it

There is also a large swimming complex with slides and a few pools on Petrosa, the price is 10 euros per day. It also has a bar. It is situated near the hospital offices.

Hi Rich

There is a bar and a restaurant at the Seabreeze it is just off the SS18 on the way out of Scalea in the Lamezia direction, you would need some form of transport to get to it.

They are really lovely people and it is never really very busy there so if you asked they would probably let you use their swimming pool as well.

There is also (or hopefully will be)a pool at Parco Flora which I believe is going to be open to the public.

Hope this helps

Have a great trip

Sue

Hi

We were out in June and there was some work going on then (although not much !) we have been told that it should be up and running for August at the latest - we are hoping it will be ready for when our daughter goes over in the middle of July.

We believe there will be a charge of about 3 euros a day for residents of Parco Flora - not sure how much of if it will be open to non residents

Maybe we'll see you there sometime

Sue

Hi all
We have stayed at Hotel Talao twice and the staff on the front desk were very nice and spoke very good English. It is possible to use their facilities
The Hotel has the "Tessera Club" for a weekly charge
you can use the pool, the private beach, and the evening entertainment. This was one of the reasons we bought in town as we are about 5 mins walk away

Best Wishes to all John, Josephine & Family

Hi Fifi

Bec will be back in UK on 27th July so you'll miss her, but I'll let you know about the pool.

Have a great time, unfortunately we've got to wait until October for our next visit - can't wait !
