Default Vets

We have small apartment in Scalea and are new owners of a dog, according to uk law we need to have a pet passport for her to go back and forward from the UK and Italy. We have sorted out the UK side but according to the law she needs to be wormed not less than 24 hours before her return. Does any one know of a vets that can do the necessary work for her which complies with the english regulations.

I believe the regulation is not less than 24 hours but not more than 48 hours for the flea and tick treatment.
If you are driving back you will need to take into account the journey time so maybe a vet en route would be more appropriate than a local vet in Scalea?

Thanks for the info, but the new law says no less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days, so we can get her wormed a day or two before we leave so that we can make sure that she will be ok to travel. The problem is finding a vet so we don't have to worry and keep her stress levels down.

There is a really nice private vet just down from the station in Viale Primo Maggio. It is on the raised area above the Chinese Shop opposite the Hotel Continental. We took an injured stray there a while back and they were really helpful. There is also a state vet next to Bar Pier in Via Fume Lao although my opinion of this vet isn't quite the same. Cannot comment on his treatments but he could definitely do with improving his attitude. Didn't seem to be much of an animal lover which, call me old fashioned, but I found quite strange for a vet.
Hope this helps

Andy

Good news that the law has changed to give more leeway!

The vet Andy mentions on Via Primo Maggio is Ambulatorio Veterinario Roges.
Their main office is in Rende but they man a clinic in Scalea three days a week in the season.
Here's a link to their website - Ambulatorio Veterinario Rende – Cosenza

We have been assisted by both Alfio Martello and Gianluca Bacci (Gianluca has some English too).

Hope that is helpful!

Thanks everyone appreciate your help, I shall try to contact them before departure and hopefully that should help my wife sleep easier, it's our first dog and the way my wife treats it also our first grandchild as well. If anyone has any further information please let us know.
