Default Cost of family eating out

I didn't manage to get over to Italy in 2011 (gasp) and I haven't been to Italy in the middle of the Summer (July/Aug) for a few years.

I'm just trying to cost out food prices for a Summer holiday in Italy, to make comparisions against Mr. Teapot's favoured countries.

Anyone give me an idea of cost of eating out every night (yes, every night), dinner for 2 adults and 2 teens - nothing fancy at all, just pizzas, pastas, meat dish, salads etc, in Scalea? Alcohol I can add on top.

I'm not talking about a la carte or expensive dinners - just standard family fare.

Hope some of you can give me some ideas of cost.

Many thanks,

Mrs Teapot ps: Happy Christmas

Angry Eating

Well not one for eating out every night but this might help.
Pizzas about 4e for basic 12inch ( yum) fries about 2e a portion clam and pasta dish about 650e most pasta dishes are around that price and the fish dishes about the same, there are restaurants that do tourist menu 12e for 2 dishes 18e for 3 and the 15 course menu for 25e all above tend to include a bottle of wine. Look out for the coperto (service charge) that can be 150e per person. Not many places have that, coffee about 120e and ice-cream dish 450e up.happy Christmas x fifi

Awww thanks for that Fifi. Appreciate the reply - especially when everyone is busy rushing around last minute Christmas stuff or away relaxing.

Any idea how much fizzy drinks are like coke?

Fifi is very accurate. I would add two good deals for lunch being Vigri and Anticha Osteria restaurants that both offer workmans lunches for €10 each. A 2 course meal of fish or meat flavour plus either 1/4L wine or water. Personally I think Enzo at Vigri is a touch more creative, but both are nice. You get both primo and secondo dishes without getting too full.

Buon Natale

It would be expensive for a family to eat out on a restaurant daily. It was found that most restaurants expect to hike prices between 4 and 6 percent in the next few months. These price increases are partially due to the rising cost of ingredients and partially due to the increase in labor costs.

Eating out is more expensive than eating in. At least, that has been the assumption. One study states that this assumption is very wrong, however. The comparison of Eating out vs. cooking in shows not only its cost but also the quantity of food you can eat. You can enjoy your food as well as save money when you cook your own food because eating out costs more for the same things - buying and cooking some ground beef being generally cheaper than buying a hamburger in a restaurant.
