Cinque Terre In Trouble??

We didn't realize until now that there are serious development and corruption issues taking place in the Cinque Terre that threaten much of what makes the district so enchanting. Here are some pics, a 2010 blog post we did and a link to documentary film makers seeking help to produce a film about the issues in Cinque Terre. Had we not settled here, it was our next place to live! It is special.

And then the next day we hear about the mudslides that hammered Monterosso and Vernazzo Tuesday. Lots of flooding in Liguria. Imagine that harbor in the photo above full of mud, wrecked cars, etc.
