Rifuiti charges

I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I need to go to pay the rifuiti charges. I have not been sent a bill for 2 years now and would like to keep up my payments. I will be in Scalea on 11th oct for a week. Also I have not been sent an ICI bill this year for the first time. Has anyone else been in the situation? Or can tell me the address or the rifuiti office so I can pay. Thanks.

We Live in San Nicola Arcella and we pay all the taxes, water and refuti in the commune Municipal Building. I am sure there is somewhere similar in Scalea, and lots of people on this site will be able to tell you where it is you need to bring indification and codice fiscale with you. Good luck on this as we had to make three seperate visits to pay all this and still have to go back to pay refuti on friday as they could not tell us how much we owe till then !

You have to go to the Comune Offices which are between the SS18 and the market car park. It is the middle building - up some steps. When you go in there is an office to the right with counters inside. Take your codice fiscale and/or your customer number if you have it. You can check on rifiuti, water and ICI all at the same time. We were told that the water bills will be issued in a few days. It is best to take your water meter reading with you together with your meter number otherwise they will charge you a flat rate.
We went yesterday as we realised we hadn't paid rifiuti for some time and found our that we owe three years. They just printed off the bills, gave us payment slips. Now all we have to do is go to the post office to pay them. The post office charges something just over €1 for each bill you pay. Tip: if you don't want to queue for ever at the post office go about half an hour before they close for lunch.

Thanks Anne and Tony for the information. I know where the comune offices in scalea are so that should be ok to get that part done. It s funny how they dont send out bills anymore. Our complex has a well so thank God we dont have to worry about that bill. I am looking forward to going over to Scalea for a bit of sun, its been the coldest summer on record here in Ireland!

Just thought I would let you all know there is now another place to pay bills normally paid in the post office. It is where the shop that sold all the religious articles used to be (it has now moved to Via Marconi) Can't remember the name of the street offhand but it runs between Via Fiume Lao and Via Lauro. Just walked straight in and paid my bill no queue at all. Brilliant.

Does anyone know whether you can pay your bills issued in Scalea in any post office? We love to go up to the hill towns for morning coffee and keep admiring the peaceful post office in Orsomarso which always seems to be empty.

Mary, we will just miss you as we arrive on 22nd Oct. My sister enjoyed her stay in Bussola. The little summer bar, pizzeria etc? was a lovely touch. Very interested to hear that you have a well as we had no idea when we stayed in yours. We loved to go into the dance school and watch the couples. Any fan of Strictly Come Dancing would love it. Dancing outdoors in summer. Well watching the dancing! Enjoy!

Ursula,
Yes, you can pay your bills in any post office.
We always find it best to go to the Scalea post office at siesta time as it is open all day during the week and that is the quietest time.
Also avoid the first week of the month as that is when they pay out pensions etc and it is always the busiest then in every post office.

Maybe I gave the wrong message. It seems to be a dance club sort of thing. They have organised music and couples get up and dance. It's in La Bussola. Don't know what its like all year but we do often hear the music from it. In summer its under the stars.

Hi Ursula, Thats a pity we are going to miss you in Scalea and( Anne and Tony )we seem to be coming right in between dates of people arriving and leaving. La Bussola has well water but is not drinkable. We boil it to make tea and use it for washing so we are lucky not to have to pay water charges. I dont know if Il Faro is the same.
I was also wondering what the weather forecast locally is like for next week, It seems quite cool tempetures compared with a week ago. Cant wait to get there any way.
The dancing is run by Oreste and is only in the summer months of July and August.

Mary, hope you had lovely weather. If it was anything like the weather we arrived to, it was good! And as a major complainer about the summer rubbish, I have to say its like a bad memory!
Thanks to whoever advised about the new bill payment facility (Sail Poste, I think its called) on the forum. Can highly recommend it as an alternative to the P.O.
After 4 years from purchase and never having a water bill, we arrived to 3 of these. All 80 euro. It made no difference the year we went to the offices to record our readings (one of those nightmare experiences). Anyway we were happy to pay and afraid to query in case we owed more.
Then we paid condo for 3 years and are about to venture into two years ICI tomorrow. It is worth noting opening hours for ICI, Scalea. It closes at 12 and only reopens 2 days a week, Tues and Thurs for one hour, 4 to 5.
We only owe one years rubbish for some reason unlike everyone else.
It is proving an expensive week but worth getting on top of things. We are pleased the commune wants the money now and it is easier to pay at this new point.. advised on forum. Thanks!
