Default Property Insurance

The Insurance on my property in Scalea is due to be renewed on 1st September. At the moment I am insured with Intasure. My main reason for taking out insurance is to cover for Earthquake damage. The quote from Intasure was ok but I feel that the excess for earthquake damage is a bit much at £5000. I thought I would try getting a second quote from Schofields but have been refused cover for earthquake damage because apparently Calabria is too high a risk for Schofields. Filling in the form for Schofields is a bit misleading as it says that the excess for Earthquake damage is £300. It was only when I asked if Earthquake damage was DEFINITELY covered by the policy, that Schofields finally admitted that their policies do not cover earthquakes in Calabria.
I would suggest that anyone who uses Schofields gets in touch with them ASAP. I was on the point of purchasing a policy from Schofields believing that Earthquake cover was included. I feel that this company may be taking money from people under false pretences.
Regards, Billy.

Default Thanks for that valuable bit of info

Hello Billy

I am also insured with Intasure covering earthquakes, but I never thought about any excess for earthquakes as, naturally, they don't alert you to it! I wonder if it's always been £5,000 excess? Will check my policy about it. I always strive to get everything in writing but, clearly, I need to read everything I get in writing! All the best. Susan

Default Don't believe what you bought till you read every word of it

Well, I dug out my policy docs from 2007 and it appears that earthquake cover was excluded! I did not know this as I specifically took out the policy to cover earthquakes.
