Default Car Hire Excess

Hi,
Does anyone on the site use carhireexcess.com to cover the excess payments? Until now I have used insurance4carhire.com. The problem is that the insurance4carhire Annual European Policy costing £49 only gives cover for up to 31 days per hire. Last year I was forced to take out their Annual Worldwide Policy costing £79 which gives excess cover for up to 60 days per hire even though all my car hiring was in Italy. I can get an Annual European Policy from carhireexcess.com covering up to 62 days per hire for the sum of £39.99---This policy is underwritten by Mondial Assistance and is an Irish Company. I just wondered if any people on the site use this Company---I'm sure some of you Irish people out there must use this Company. My Policy is due for renewal in May just before my first visit of the year to Scalea. If anyone has any experience of carhireexcess.com, please let me know.
Ciao, Guglielmo ie. Billy.

Hi Billy
WE have used both and T.G. never a bother, maybe the proof of their value is if somebody had bother and had to call upon them for assitance. x Fifi

Hi Billy,

I have not used the services of the two companies you mentioned. However, I have used iCar Hire Insurance - and their product covers us up to 60 days per rental period.

I hope this is of use.

Thanks Fifi and Lou for your replies. I still haven't taken out an insurance yet but will have to in the next couple of weeks. I think I will give insurance4carhire a miss this year and use one of these other two companies.
Thanks again, Billy.

Hi Billy,
Have just seen your post. I have always used insurance4carhire myself, but the business section of today's Sunday Independent ( an Irish paper) has done a price comparison between insurance4carhire at €79.99, and carhireexcess.com at €59.99. These prices are for an annual worldwide policy.
But they aren't much use unless they have a track record of paying up on time, and in full.

Hi all

I will have to stay alert when filling up before handing the car back in Naples. Thanks for the warning.

Ciao

John
