For those of you who have enjoyed a drink (and the world cup football) at Lido da Pietro you will be pleased to hear that the friendly hosts are building a permanent structure on the beach which they hope to have open all year. It is in the same place (towards the rocks, opposite Vigri and bar l'Ancora) and they hope to open in time for Easter this year. It will be nice to have a friendly meeting place away from the main roads. Look forward to seeing some of you there.

Delighted to hear that. They are such a lovely friendly couple and nothing is too much trouble (and they make such lovely cups of HOT tea!) They were telling us last September that they used to have to close up everything on 14th September like everyone else but last year they had extended their licence and they would be opening until the end of October. We look forward to our first trip this year at the end of May and will certainly be giving them our business.

That's really good news. We enjoyed a sunny Sunday brunch there last October. So nice to be able to sit looking out at the shimmering sea. A real "holiday" feeling..........I often thought that's what Scalea could do with more of -beach front bars. As you say it's lovely to get away from the traffic and they are such nice people. We look forward to a visit or three there at Easter. Roll on..........................
