We were in Scalea the first 2 weeks in September and set up a Sky HD box with a FTV card. I purchased an 80cm dish + lnb and wall bracket and aimed the dish at the Astra 2/Eurobird 1 satellites. Once the dish had been aligned on 28.2/28.5 and the elevation adjusted we were able to receive ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 all in HD plus the UK news channels and some other free channels probably about 30 in all. Reception was excellent on ITV, 4 & 5 with no break up even during the torrential rain we had just before we returned home. Hope this helps
We are in Scalea now, can you tell me where you bought all your stuff and who installed it for you, we have the dish but that is all, our last digee box blew up but ski now and be would like to install sky now with all the stuff you are getting. All help appreciated.
We bought the Sky box off ebay £60 and the FTV card from Sky £25 and took it out to Scalea. The dish, LNB, cable and 'F' connectors were bought in Scalea, I cant remember the name of the shop but I think it was on the V. Fiume Lao and it sells tools and electrical bits and pieces. cost was about 30 euros. I set the dish up myself, it was fairly simple to do. Most of the dishes seem to be pointing at HotBird (Italian Sky) which is at 13' east of south so by moving our dish to 28.2' east of south (to the left of where they were pointing) and adjusting the dish so that the LNB was looking lower in the sky than the other dishes, I found the Astra 2 satellites. Signal is very strong on the south beam. hope this helps but if you need any more info let me know.

wow, that's way too technical for us! you sound like someone who knows what he is doing!
we have just gone and bought another digi box, as long as we can get some news, even if it does come via an arabic channel that will do us. I can always read the papers on line.Only news i can see is that it is freezing! sorry to sound smug - but it is beautiful out here, even saw people on the beach yesterday and monday.
thanks for getting back to me, will see what we can achieve with this and try not to blow it up when we leave.
While we are on the subject of English TV in Scalea, can anyone tell me where I can find 'KISS ME QUICK HATS', fish and chips, English beer and a good old punch up on a friday night in the area?
