Default Re: Boat Hire/Messing about in Boats

I know there are many places to hire boats along the coastline but I would like to recommend the boat hire at a lovely little beach just north of Praia (actually in Basilicata). At the free beach at Casrocucco at the beachbar they have lots of boats for hire at very reasonable prices. You can take them up the beautiful Maratea coastline or go south. We really enjoyed the experience and repeated it twice.

Hi

We are due for a trip in the area in a few days and if we get the chance may find time to a hire a boat.

So just wondering how much you are actually talking about in respect of costs , length of hire and types of small boats that are available [ motor boats etc].

Is the beach well sign posted off the SS18?

Never done this before and depending on weather conditions may consider for another trip if not this time.

regards

Martin

Dear Mark,

Yes the beach is well signposted just after the junction between Lagonegro and Maratea. Quad bike hire and horse riding are also down there. You follow sign Castrocuccco and the beach is signposted. When you get to the bottom of the road at the campsite turn right, and follow that road right to the end. It's a lovely beach with a great backdrop. There is a small river on one part of the beach and the water there is icy cold. Lovely in August! Not sure about going there Easter etc.
Boats varied from 15hp to 40hp which was a real luxury for us. Prices also vay. One hour is 30 euro on the 40 hp and it takes up to six. there's a lot of different options. 2 hours, 4 hours etc!
We had been in Sicily a week before this and at Cefalu(very touristy) boats were nearly twice as much!
Good luck! It was our first time so don't be frigtened! Pick a calm day? Enjoy your break!
