Default Webcam Diamante - what is the weather doing?

Hi all,
Friendly warning- this can get compulsive!
Not sure if this is what you really want to be looking at if it is cold, wet and windy where you are just now ....but here is a link to the webcam on the lungomare (promenade) in Diamante, just a couple of minutes from our house.
When we are in the UK I usually torment myself with a look at this every morning but obviously we just need to throw open the shutters every day at the mo to see just what the weather is like. (You will notice that the sea is interesting the day after a really good storm!)
You might need to wait a little while for it to load depending on your connection speed (or you might need to refresh the page if it looks like nothing is happening).

Enjoy,
Regards, Lesley & Brian

Beautifully sunny this afternoon, although it has been pretty breezy today so it has kept the temperature down a bit.
Hope the webcam is working ok and then you can maybe see just what it is like

Regards, Lesley

Back to the grind.Have to say what a great trip we all had, just home and cant get head around things here.Hello to Mel and David good seeing you again and looking very well.If you think Scalea is just a summer thing, think again. We got to do so much on this trip. The roads were quiet and driving around was a pleasure. We headed for the hills about an hour and a half away and enjoyed a great day at the ski resort.Very cheap €10 to hire the gear for the kids.About €4 to use cable car.A very beautiful place.Sorry cant spell the name of the area but it was well sign posted in the Sila Grande.Took dinner in the town which was open mid day.The next day we spent pottering around the beach fishing and enjoying the Hot weather. On our return we stayed in Roma due to early flight with Ryanair the next day,the flight was €175 for 5 of us return to Dublin,we stayed beside the station (best place )€100 for family room and all forms of transport on your door step. You cant get better than that Sun,snow and shopping.Give it a lash! Excellent artical in the paper on Thursday re. Calabria and property there will email it to you David and Melanie, and will put photos of ski resort on site.Cheers Fifi

Hello there Cool,
I've just tried the hotels.com website and got a very pleasant surprise with the prices. My wife Sheila and myself intend to stay 2 nights at the Eurolido Hotel Falerna which is close to Lamezia Airport. On other websites the price for the 2 nights is 150 euros while on the Hotels.com website the price works out at 81 euros. We know the Eurolido Hotel is OK as we stayed there last year on our way home to Scotland. So thank you very much for the information. The reason for staying in Falerna is to enable us to visit the Tropea area without having to drive there all the way from Scalea.
Thanks again, Billy.

Default Car Rental

Hi,
There was a post by RayandJax in another topic on the forum which gave a link to this website, if it's any help to you:

http://www.economycarhire.com/

We coming over in June and have also booked with Hertz but we did it through Ryanair this time and it's considerably cheaper than holidayautos, with whom we booked last year on recommendation, but you had to make the car hire booking with Ryanair at the same time as you booked the flights, as a kind of package. Last year we were with SixtIt. Here's the holidayautos link, though, in case it helps to compare:

http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/

I guess it's just a case of shopping around for the best deal, as it's quite a competitive market.
Let us know if you come up with something better as I'm sure we could all benefit from the information.
Hope this helps.
Ciao,
Frances.

Default Car hire

I used economycarhire.com a couple of times but now I use the Novacarhire.com website for car hire in Italy. They are an Irish co. and I find them cheaper than most. I take the basic package from them and to give me extra cover I have taken an annual insurance policy with insurance4carhire which costs approx.£50 per year---this policy covers the Excess in the case of an accident or theft and also covers damage to tyres and windows etc. I visit Scalea at least 3 times per year so I think it is £50 well spent even just for peace of mind while driving in Italy.

I always try
www.carhiresearch.co.uk

as they try all the leading names etc and have been really cheap in the past. However recently I have been booking car hire through Ryanair as their price was better.

This is however hiring a car from Stansted.

See you soon

Default Car hire

Hi all,

We always use Auto europe for car hire, have used then four times now and never had any problems and always seem to be the cheapest that I can find on the web.

HI Cool glad to see all is going well with new home. Will have a look at that hotel site.I use Venere.com.What I found handy about this site are the maps they give for the location of hotels.I sometimes travel alone and need to look as though I know where I am going.Let us know when you get your keys, and where your apartment is might bump into you sometime. Cheers Fifi
