Default Italian Channels on Sky - in the UK

Hi All,

It has been mentioned to me from time to time that you can get some Italian Channels on SKY in the UK. Does anyone know anything about this?

I did phone sky and tried to get some information but they were not that helpful and dismissed it out of hand, but I still keep being told that it is possible. Can anyone shed any light on this subject? It would really help my Italian I think, as when I come back after a long break, it takes me ages to remember my lessons!

Many thanks and regards all,
Jacqui.

We have a dish (70-80 cms depending on where in UK and directed to the satellite Hotbird - 13degrees) and you also need a decoder (£80 - £100) and we get RAI 1, 2 and 3 and Mediaset (canale 4, 5 and Italia 1). With this set up it is possible to also get other channels but which we seldom watch but you might want more if you're learning - RAI News 24, RAI Edu (education channel) etc. When you get the decoder you have to download them. Good luck.

Thank you both for your help and information, that will really help. Not just to improve my learning but by just listening to the language. It is like music to my ears, I can close my eyes and almost pretend that I am there!

Thanks again, much appreciated.

Regards, Jacqui.
