Wink Getting from Rome to Scalea??

Hello everyone, I am going to be moving to Scalea for the summer. It is my first time in Italy, and I don't know anything yet. I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a bus from Rome to Scalea?? I think I know how to catch the train from the airport (FCO), just take the Stazione Fs to the Termini roma, but it seems like a bus woudl be much cheaper. Does anyone know??? I am arriving in Rome FCO at 9:15 in the morning.

Also, After arriving in Scalea to drop off my things, I will need to travel to somewhere in the north to take an exam, and then back to Scalea. Does anyone know if it would be worth it for me to buy one of the rail passes that gives me 3 days of travel in a month, because thats exactally what I will be doing. Does the rail pass work for all the trains, because i don't know at this point which trains i will need to take, and I don't want to buy the pass and then find out that it won't work for the trains i need to take. If I buy the pass, is it really alot cheaper than buying each ticket individually??

ANY SUGGESTIONS that anyone has would help me immensly. I leave in 8 days and I am starting to get really nervous about all of this. Someone please tell me what is my best option.... Thanks so much!! See you in Scalea!!

Hi Greta

Re the Bus from Rome, if you search on Old Threads I think that Margaret posted a link to a bus timetable back in early Jan 2010.

With regard to the Rail Pass I think you will just have to check prices on train tickets.
You can do this on the Rail Europe web site, I think the three day pass is about 100euro to buy so it may be cheaper just to buy a single return ticket.

Where in the North do you need to go? there may be a bus or another thought is that Easyjet Fly from Lamezia to Milan and you can get a return ticket for about 100euro

I think you will need to do a little research

best wishes

John
