Fishing

Hubby and I love fishing in the Uk, does anyone know of anywhere (accessible by public transport) where we could go near Scalea, any information would be great

Think you can fish off the beach in a lot of areas, my hubby does in Praia a Mare, there are no buses to here though, buses in Scalea though, seems they go to Cosenza and some to Maratea, one bus passes through Foresta, but where it goes I dont know! I have written to the commune about the lack of public transport,its a joke here, so many tourists in July and August and they have to come by car or train then once here they cannot get anywhere. Last year we spent a week ferrying customers back and forth to the beach every day from our bed and breakfast home as they could not get around otherwise.
You should be able to fish anywhere along the beaches except in peak times but they still do some people. As for buses there are some in Scalea but where they go who knows!!! Seems only way to get around here is by car, twenty years ago there was an hourly bus in Foresta to town- Praia a Mare now there is nothing. Time the councils got more Green here and got some buses!!

Thanks for the reply, shame about the public transport, have only used the trains so far, may be brave and try the buses later in the year, but if they are scarce high season dont envy our chances late September. They could make alot of money in Scalea either side of the crazy July and August bombardment, as we personally prefer the area when its a little quieter, but unless you have a car its difficult to explore any distance
