Default Train journey to san nicola arcella

Hi everyone,

I will be making the journey from Naples to San Nicola in July by train for the first time.

I will still have to get myself from Scalea or Priar a Mare to San Nicola.

Whereabouts are the bus stops nearest to either of the railway stations and best places to catch any buses that are suitable for my onward journey?

Are taxi`s usually available near to the stations? How much would it cost?

Having been in the vicinity of Scalea and Prair railway stations can`t say I`ve seen many taxi`s around so can you recommend where I could get one if need be in either of these places?

I will be travelling light so am prepared to walk depending on what time I arrive.

Always grateful for any idea`s / advice.

Regards

Martin

Hi Martin,
I drive by the stazione in Scalea almost daily and very often there is a taxi sitting there waiting the next train arrival. There a a few taxis around Scalea. If one is not there, you could ask the train people how to get one. Don't know about Praia cabs. doug

Default Train journey to san nicola arcella

Hi Martin

We have done this journey several times. There is a yellow bus parked opposite the front doors or Naples Airport that brings you to Naples Central Train Station for about 4 or 5 euro.
and there has always been a taxi outside Scalea station, they time it for the trains coming in. If not there are cards on the wall with tel numbers for taxis. Taxis are expensive around this area. It cost us around 20 euro from station to San Nicola (May have gone up this year as we have not been over yet). I dont think it would be a good idea to walk it is quite a distance, no footpaths and very fast drivers!. I have never seen anyone walking on this road.
I am sure you know that you can book your train ticket online saves you queuing in the train station. [url=http://www.trenitalia.it]
Enjoy

Hi Doug and June

Thanks for your responses.

Must admit if I walked it wouldn`t be a long that main road I want to get there in one piece!

I wonder if their is a path around the headland near Crawfords tower and theys always the beach from Priar just in case I get stuck!

But looks like a taxi or local bus if I see one.

Cheers

Martin

hi Mart,
There is a road to San Nicola from the Petrosa area of Scalea which would be a much safer walk than the main SS18 road. Unfortunately, Petrosa[the area of Scalea up the hill] is some distance from the railway station. Once you arrived at the top of the hill you would probably have roughly the same distance to walk again to get to San Nicola.
Hope this helps, Billy.

Default Buses

I've got a feeling this is somewhere else on this site but guess it might take a bit of finding. If you google in something like AUTOSERVIZI PREITE SRL PRAIA A MARE you'll get the bus company site come up and if you click on Praia you'll get the timetable come up for Praia to Cosenza. There are loads of buses and some 4 stops in Praia so I guess one must be near the station. It's 15 mins from Praia to San Nicola.

Have tried to put the timetable on here as an attachment but apparently it's too big. Let me know if you can't find it. The bus route is No 7 if it doesn't come up automatically when you put Praia in.
