Default Directions to IKEA

Hi All,

Can anybody give me directions from Naples Airport to Ikea? We always follow the directions from the airport to the autostrada for Salerno, which brings us down via the coast. This is not the route to Ikea, I know.

I need to buy some large plastic storage boxes (with lids) to store bedlinen, clothes etc. in our absence. I have not seen them on sale in the Scalea area.
Or perhaps some members would know where to source them more locally than Naples. I prefer to shop locally whenever possible.

Thanks, in advance,
Markel

Default Sort-of Ikea

EMMEZETA : arredamento, elettrodomestici, brico e tempo libero, audio video, informatica, moda

Emmezeta is similar to Ikea and is just off the Autostrada before you reach Cosenza. It is at a place called Montalto Uffugo. Google maps finds it.

It is a place that also sorts out transport - I think you can hire their van if you have the right paperwork.

Default Storage boxes

Hi Markel I bought the type of storage box you want in the Monday market in Scalea. As far as I recall it was in the centre of the market. The stall sold all sorts of household items saucepans, bowls, crockery, plant pots etc. They also sell them in Carrefour in Cosenza. Annette

Are the plastic boxes (to store bed linen etc in) to stop the items going damp in your absence?

Yes. I bought them too. the ones I bought have wheels and roll under the beds. I think they were about 7euro.

Lynn, the boxes you mention are exactly what I am looking for. Did you,
like Annette, buy them at the market? We arrive on Tuesday 30th, so I might try the Wednesday market in Belvedere, as there may not be a market in Scalea on Easter Monday.
I'm not too concerned about dampness as things dry out fairly quickly. I am simply trying to organise things, and conceal them under beds where possible.
We also leave some of our clothes in the apartment (haven't had much use for shorts in Ireland this Winter), which we need to tidy away as other family members will be using the apartment in early Summer.
Thanks for the replies,
Markel

I bought them at the market but I have seen them at Spar, Euronics, and a little shop on via Lauro that sells everything for the home. The people there are really nice and it is very interesting to root about in there. It's close to the hardware opposite that shop that sells everything for a Euro. The market is cheaper than everywhere else but only by a few euros.

Have a lovely time in Scalea. Maybe we can meet up sometime when we're all there.

in Scalea on this day last year and it was huge.
Enjoy your time there I can't wait to get
at the end of April after this awful winter
in Ireland.

Default ikea salerno

Hi,

A new Ikea opened on Feb 24th officially at Salerno. It's on the motorway which goes around the back of Vesuvius to Roma. Its quite soon after the junction where you can either go the coast road to the airport or round the back of Vesuvius which incidentally is the way the Sat Nav sends you. You have to pay a small toll. If you go in/out this way you also go past Ikea Naples so its double Ikea. This new one will be an easier trip from Scalea or you could call in on the way down from the airport!. Its location is on their website.

Smile New ikea

Great news. Thanks for letting us know. Will definitely be better than winding through the many confusing flyovers of the napoli site. Will test it out in April.

Thank you UAKelly. That is the best news ever.

So if I take the coast road from the Airport, then take the road for Avellino near Salerno, it should be about 30 mins drive up that road?
Great!

Default Happy Shopping

Not even 30 minutes. Its right on the motorway and near a junction.

Just an observation, but we have found Emmettzza ? very poor and tacky the last two times we have been. We were there about a year and a half ago and we felt it was more promising than it actually is!
