Scalea - Google maps

Hello all,

Have you all been on Google Maps lately - Google Maps
Its now possible to view all the streets - its like being there in person without the heat! Just drag the little orange man over the map and hey presto you are in Scalea

Google maps in Scalea, what is happening to the world ehhh, I've just spent about half an hour on there touring the streets and what is so unbelievable is that I can actually recognise a number of people that we see on our visits. It just goes to show that they do just sit and watch the world go by all year round...

My God - that is amazing. Have been on google maps lots of times but never knew about the "Orange Man".............Brilliant !!

Was also amazed to see main car-traversible roads the other night when I was checking out the post code for possible dhl economy delivery. Anybody received packets via courier and did it work out well?

Any feedback appreciated. The quote I got for 16kg is surprisingly cheap.

We get loads of parcels delivered by courier and haven't had any problems. Sometimes the couriers used to ring from the SS18 if they were unsure where we are and we met at the Esso garage - it was simpler to do that than to try to give directions - but lately they seem to drive straight to the door.
One of the benefits of living in a close-knit community is that everyone knows everyone else so anyone asking for us on our hill would be directed straight to us.

I didn't realise it was a 'new' thing. I just discovered it last weekend and intended to spend a small amount of time 'driving' around Scalea - I ended up 'hooked' on it (well fascinated) and spend far too long driving around and looking at shop and cafe fronts etc!

Great fun but warning: its very addictive and time consuming! (well if you are a saddo like me.....ahem).

Looking at our place in Diamante, I would 'date' Google Maps at around 2007 (by the state of the building site). It is very absorbing though - a quick holiday 'fix' from your desk when the boss isn't watching!!

Yes, the Google Map technology is interesting - some fear it as intrusive.

I had the pleasure of printing off a pic of myself in my car at the gate of our San Nicola pad!! This shot was probably Spring/Summer 08.

I certainly agree that it is totally addictive - you just keep zooming in and out all over the place - or maybe I'm just another "sado"!
