Default Window Shutters

Hi all,
Looking for assistance once again.
While attempting to paint the wooden shutter on our bedroom window over New Year, we decided that it really needs to be replaced - between decayed wood and rusted hinges it is a safety hazard.
Does anybody know of a person or workshop in the area that would supply and fit a replacement shutter for us? Has anyone had this type of work done?Or perhaps we should just approach our caretaker, and see if he can help?
Any help /recommendations would be appreciated.
MarKel

Lightbulb Window Shutters

Hi Markel we had all our shutters (doors and windows) replaced last year with aluminium ones, they are excellant no more maintenance, we also had mosquito screens fitted at the same time. I can't remember the guys name but he was a friend of Roberto's at Mattoni Casa, perhaps Leslie can ask Roberto as she knows him as we won't be out until April when I could find his card. Any chance you could do that please Leslie?? I think his name might have been Luca Regina, his place is in Santa Maria.

Hi Mary,
What about good old Biaggio, master of all trades. We are getting him to fix our sun shades in May when we return to Scalea. A couple of years ago he replaced a broken slat in our door on the balcony and there is no way you would be charged too much. In fact, I think the Covit Apartments are lucky to have him.
Hope to see you some time this year,
Billy.

Thanks to Val, Mark and Billy for your replies.

Val, I would love those aluminium doors windows and shutters you describe, particularly having endured the draught from our wooden windows over New Year. However the budget on this occasion will just about cover one wooden shutter.
Billy, we will be in Scalea over Easter, so I will try my "venti parole" on Biaggio. Hopefully he will be able to help. As you said, we are lucky to have him. He did not appear at all while we were there, but Oreste drove through the complex every day. It is nice to know he keeps such a close eye on things.

Hi Markel,
Amazing. An English speaking forum about my little town Scalea. Unbelievable.
Will be fantastic to help you. I’m a “Scaleoto” but I speak English. I have, with my family, a workshop in Scalea where we make furniture and also we do house renovation jobs.
What type of shutter do you need to replace? Is it the classic shutter that's used to be called “persiana”?

Nicholas

Hi Nicholas,

I don't know what type of shutter it is - just a standard wooden shutter with horizontal slats. We would use the description "louvre" in these parts for it. It is quite heavy.
In what part of Scalea is your workshop? I will be in Scalea at Easter and could call in.

Hi MarKel,
we have our office next to the BCC Bank (Via Magellano) and our workshop is in the industrial area on the way to Santa Domenica Talao.
I believe is the classical persiana shutter. Just give me a call when you will be in Scalea to have a look at it and who knows maybe needs only a little work. Phone no. (+39) 3475570595.

Hi Emma,
Hope I’m the right person. We have plenty of timber on the floor. When you are here you can give me the measures of the shelves and if you need them polished also we can do it for you.
No problem, I can put them on for you that’s my job. Also if you or someone else needs I can provide directly: kitchen fittings, interior painting, house renewal, doors renewal, made to measure kitchens and furniture etc.
We have some ready made wardrobe doors but in standard measures. if you need a made to measure one depends on the door style. Our website is Rinaldi.ie but there you can find only some kitchen doors but we also do wardrobe doors.

Nicholas

Nicholas,
Is the Dun Garbhain part of your location address of any significance?
It caught my eye as it appears to be written in Irish.

Markel

Yup,
my mother is from Helvik (An Rinn) a couple of miles from Dungarvan. I’m often there and last year I’ve spent 5 month in Ireland. At the end the weather kicked me away, but is still one of my favourite place were I would live.

Nicholas,
Does that mean that a Waterford woman from Gaeltacht na Rinne settled in Scalea, and raised her family there?
And we thought we were the pioneers!
Regards,
Markel
