Hi Iggy,

I'm not sure if they will fly into Lamezia. When they stopped flying before they kept Lamezia on thier web site. This time they have removed it altogether. Hopefully they will fly to Lamezia again. It's a pain to drive down from Rome, which we have to do in May.

Hi,

I can't help you with any information as to when Ryanair will be reinstating their flights to Lamezia Terme but I did upload a post to another thread on this forum the other day re: reinstatement of Ryanair domestic flights in Italy. I feel this is at least a cause for some optimism that the Lamezia flights will come back some time in the spring, especially when you know that Ryanair is already well-established at this airport.

Anyway, you can read the information for yourself at this link and then make up your own mind:

http://www.scalea.info/forum/chit-ch....html#post8026 (Ryanair reinstatement of Italian domestic flights)

However, if anyone receives any reliable information that the Ryanair flights have been reinstated this year, perhaps they would kindly post it on this thread, to save any confusion. You can easily access this thread by doing a quick keyword search at the top of this web page.

Other than that, I guess it's a case of continuing to check the Ryanair site for any updates.

Here's hoping we hear some good news soon!

Ciao a tutti,

Frances.

Hi
is it not possible for you to fly to Naples as the drive is only about 2.5hrs ?
We do it on a regular basis.

Default Flights

Hi Heather

When you fly to Naples what is your departure airport? I note that Easyjet do Gatwick Naples. Are there any other alternatives?

Ciao

Wink Ryanair Flights

Hiya All
When looking for Easyjet flights just type in Naples as departure point and then it will give you destinations in the UK.

It appears that there may be a development on the Ryanair flights to Lamezia all be it a small one. Previously if you carried out a 'new search' on the Ryanair site (not from the home page) and put in Lamezia as your departure airport it only gave you Milan, Pisa, Bologna and Dussledorf as options for your destination. Stansted has now been included. As yet there are no dates available but this is usually an indication that the availability for Lamezia to Stansted will be added soon. Let's hope so.

Thanks for that Andy!

Update - I just tried it but couldn't see Lamezia in the list.
Is it me or should I be looking at much later in the year?

Hi Leslie and Andy

I couldn't find it either.

I will search the site further when I get time.

Hi Lesley & John

If you search from the main page then Stansted isn't listed, but if you put in a search for example Stansted to Rome and go to the next page where it lists your options, at the bottom of the page it gives the option for a 'new search'. Click on that and enter Lamezia as your departure airport and it gives the Stansted as a possible destination (hope this makes sense). It hasn't given this option for a long time and in the past this has indicated that the Stansted/Lamezia route is about to be re-instated. Being the sad person I am I usually come home from work and scan the Ryanair/Easyjet pages in the hope of finding a flight so cheap it would be silly of me not to book it. The many hours I have spent doing this has given me a good understanding of the workings of Ryanair and their site (I know it is a worry). I am therefore confident that this is the case as it has always indicated the flights resuming in the past. I am now off to get a life.

Default Ryanair

Hi Andy

Thanks for the explanation. I would never have found that option.

I wish Ryanair or Easyjet would expand their operation to fly Bristol to Naples or Lamezia. Flights to Naples from a regional airport would attract a lot of interest I am sure.

Ciao

I've been waiting for 5 years for a Direct Flight from Scotland to Naples or Lamezia by Easyjet or Ryanair but,so far,no luck.Last year I travelled 4 times from Edinburgh to Rome and then drove the 260 odd miles South to Scalea. This year I will visit Scalea only twice but I will stay probably 6 weeks each time instead of the usual 2/3 weeks.A direct flight from ANY Scottish airport by Easyjet or Ryanair to Naples or Lamezia would be great and would probably increase the number of Scottish purchasers of property in Calabria.
Regards, Billy.

Hi,

I followed your advice, which is most helpful and won't be lost on the majority of us, I'm sure.

Having done the 'new search' option, I then clicked on the following link, which gives a list of Ryanair's new routes for 2010 (to date):

Ryanair - New flight offers

I thought it might be a useful shortcut for members to quickly check whether the Stansted/Lamezia flights, or any others, have been reinstated at any given time although, of course, you can still do it by simply using the normal search option, which might be more informative.

If anyone manages to source this information in the forthcoming weeks, perhaps they would kindly post it here on this thread. Here's hoping it won't be long.

Thanks.

Ciao a tutti,

Frances.

Hi

Thomsonfly do Glasgow to Naples. I think they are only on a Friday though.

The last time I looked at their flights, it worked out very close to the Ryan Air to Rome price, once I had added all the fees etc.

Hi Mrs Grohl,
I've just checked the Thomsonfly site for flights from Glasgow to Naples and put in similar dates to those I had with Ryanair. The site is saying there are no flights available. I then discovered that there ARE flights available if I put in exactly 1 week or 2 weeks. Anything greater than a 2 week stay is met with non availability. This is fine for people who work and are taking a 1week or 2 week holiday but for an old pensioner like myself it is no good---my wife Sheila and myself, both retired, are having a 6 week break between May and June so I guess I'll stick with the Edinburgh/Rome route meantime. Thanks anyway for the information about the Thomsonfly flights.
Ciao, Billy.

Billy,
It is possible to book singles so you could do a six week break if you book the flights out and back individually.
(A friend has just booked a one way ticket with them from Naples to Birmingham as she is coming back from London on a different airline)

Ciao Lesley,
I've just tried the Thomsonfly site for September/October entering one way flights from Glasgow to Naples as you suggest but it keeps coming up with Manchester flights. It would appear that there are no one way flights from Glasgow to Naples or Naples to Glasgow.
This would mean the drive from Stirling to Manchester. I don't know why there are only return flights from Glasgow to Naples for a period of time of 2 weeks or less.
Thanks for your trouble, Billy.
ps. Regards to Brian.
