Question Car insurance

We are looking for car insurance as we are hoping to purchase a second hand car next time we come over. Does anyone know of a good insurance company and also where we could purchase a car?

Default Car Insurance

Go onto the Italsure site - they are a UK-bases company specializing in car insurance in Italy. I have a punto insured with them, but you should look carefully into the rate they offer, as I am aware of another forum member who seems to be paying a lot less than I. I shall be asking questions before renewing.

Can't help you with the "Where to buy" bit, I'm afraid.

Good luck

Dermot

We also use Italsure, here's the link
Italsure - Expatriate Insurance Solutions

But be prepared for higher costs than the UK.
Our Fiesta cost us 200 GBP fully comprehensive when it was UK registered.
It is now 1084 dollars to insure it since we swopped it onto Italian plates.

(Premium is paid in dollars as the policy is underwritten by Clements International and AIG)

Default Italsure

Having just signed up the car we're buying in Santa Domenica, I can add to the praise of Italsure. With only two emails sharing the details of the car, our US and Italian addresses, and a debit card, we had a policy. A nice woman from England caught me by surprise (surprised to hear her British accent) at my office desk yesterday and we wrapped it up so the car is insured. Simple. Yes, the 1200 USD cost for a used Alfa Romeo is about what we paid for two vehicles in the states, but I chalk that up to insurance in Italy. Or is it more bailout help for AIG??!!!

Red face Car insurance

Thanks for all the info. Will check out Italsure. I see what you mean about expensive. I cannot believe that everybody pays those prices. The insurance seems to cost more than some of the cars I have seen there. Thanks again.
