Well Mrs Teapot what a journey you had!

Our incident was similar, basically 2 people were in our seats, before we had time to sort it out 4 of them were fighting, apparently one tried to take the others bag, the police came and arrested all 6 and left their luggage on the train.

It seems to be that you need to try and not get distracted by anything - even if someone's seemingly murdered in the next seat! Trouble is it's easier said than done. Have posted it somewhere else here but when getting on a train at Naples with a friend she let someone grab her case and put it on the train and then when they demanded more payment than she was going to give them took out her bag and they were able to grab something ridiculous and scarper in a second. It all happened before I'd had time to turn around almost. Partly her fault but it makes life difficult if you have to be on the alert all the time. After that she wouldn't set foot in Naples - not that she'd been very happy about setting foot there before that! Having said that, have done umpteen train journeys in Italy with never a problem. Also, feel a bit pot and kettle with this as a 'distraction' scam happened to some relatives from Naples in London. A group started an argument in a restaurant just behind them and when one of them came to look in her bag from under her chair it was empty of everything worth taking.

Yes, it was a very eventful journey - but had a managed to book a more expensive train and/or first class I have a feeling it would have been an uneventful (and boring) journey!

Like you, we did countless other train journies and nothing happened on those lines.

I did come across an unpleasant scene outside the toilet at napoli beverelo port which was a bit shocking, but I loved Ischia so much it hasnt put me off wanting to visit again (cross legged no doubt)!
