Hi Alex,
You can now use the "search" button on the top right hand side of this site's home page to save you sifting through all the forums to find out the information you need.
Just type in "Restoration" and you will find some very helpful information in various forum threads - one in particular shows a Restoration Diary by one of the members. This will give you some idea of the kind of challenges you will face and you will also be able to ask specific questions of various members about the kind of work you are wanting to get done and also give some idea of the kind of property you wish to renovate. I'm sure there's plenty of good advice to be had from those who have already done this.
