Small point but worth knowing I suppose. Assuming its the same for when we did this journey a few weeks ago, the train pulls in to Napoli terminus and stops for a bit (ours was a 20 minute stop but depends on delays) and then pulls out as if its going back the way you came but is of course going to Scalea. As long as the train you have is direct then you have no worries. On our train an african chap got on at napoli and sat next to us. After 20 minutes he asked if the train was going to roma. This got me worried especially as we had pulled back out of napoli station, but he was wrong and had to get off.
